Few reasons: 1. I am running KDE on my Linux box for few years now and I wanted to see how does Gnome look like. 2. KDE is too Windowish for my taste. Now that I am trying Gnome, it seems to me like a much more modern environment then KDE. 3. The beauty of Linux is that you can run multiple graphical environments, so why not give it a try? 4. I like the thrill of trying something new... ;-) Avi "Timothy R. Butler" wrote:
Rando, I don't use GNOME, so I'm kinda useless here - by why not switch to KDM and KDE? The K Desktop Environment has the stability that comes with more mature code, the prettier interface that the Troll and KDE teams have done a great job on, more utilities (I think), major support from Corel, Mandrake, and SuSE, and it's the pick environment of Linus Torvalds. KDE 2.0 will also add a full fledged CORBA based office suite, Konqueror (a modern, powerful web browser), and more!
"Unix ***is*** ready for the desktop" when used with KDE.
