I sent this a minute too soon. I just did another search of the SDB (keywords FTP INSTALL), and found a new article which describes the procedure. Unfortunately, the article directs me to download ALL the rpm's in both the yast1 and yast2 directories, and then let rpm update only those which are already installed. I've got a slow modem connection, and it pains me to think of spending time downloading something that won't be installed. I've tried several times, but haven't been able to come up with a working rpm command line which will update any/all packages found in a FTP directory, so that the process could be done with just two commands. Has anyone else figured out this one? On Mon, 29 Jul 2002, Rick Green wrote:
With prior releases, I was in the habit of installing from CD, but then changing source of installation to FTP, to make sure I was pulling the latest update, whenever I went to install additional packages. Since the FTP version of 8.0 was published, I have been expecting that YOU will replace my YAST2 with an FTP-capable one. To date, this hasn't happened.
has anyone figured out which of the myriad of yast2 .rpm's contains the 'change source of installation' module, so I can manually update yast2 to restore my FTP installation ability?
