Nate, If you installed the x86_64 OpenSUSE 10.3, then it installs an x86_64 kernel. For some reason, trying to install certain packages will create errors that will indicate that you can either "change the architecture and install", "ignore the requirement", "generally ignore the requirement", and similar errors. If these are the errors that you are getting, then it is a problem that hopefully OpenSUSE will resolve in 11.0, by rebuilding all packages in the x86_64 specifically for the x86_64. That way, all packages that you either try to install or download would be 64 bit packages. As it is, some are 32 bit packages and therefore you get some errors on installing certain packages. You would think that if you go to the download tree for x86_64 that this type of issue would not be there. But for OpenSUSE 10.3, it is. Nate Pearlstein wrote:
