Huh - that one's easy. I get my kids to program the VCR!
While we're TOTALLY off-topic, I'll throw in a quick mention of a VCR/DVD combo box I bought for $70 from Wal Mart. This thing was bought to be a temp replacement of some equipment zapped in a thunderstorm, but it ended up being the rec-room entertainment center. The way you set this thing up to record shows unattended is absolutely hideous. 1. Set up the schedule (easy, 'calendar' button on remote - set channel, days, re-occurance, etc) 2. Now, with NO other on-screen prompting, you're supposed to know to hit the VCR button, then power off, THEN hit this obscure little button that has something along the lines of EMBA (meaningless abbreviation) that actually turns on the VCR in recording timer mode. Even though I've set this thing 50 times, totally illogical steps to get from point a to b forced me to tape a cheat-sheet on the back of the remote. ...Sometimes Linux feels the same way, but then someone asks me to help them with something in Windows, and suddenly I find myself saying, "God, if you only installed Linux on this thing, the command would be [whatever] and you'd be done." I've managed to convert a couple users that way.
