I've seen 'libwayland' come up a few times recently when running 'zypper up'.
What is the status of the Wayland project wrt openSuse?
It is in early integration phase, developer mode..;-) switching to wayland is a shitload of work and AFAIK all the coding needed is incomplete..let alone the distribution assembly.
I am also looking forward to this but I doubt it will be used by default before late 2015/2016..
