1. The 9.0 release comes with a "test" 2.6 kernel ----- as well as implementation of the User Mode Linux (UML) kernel patches------- so does that mean that the 2.6 kernel will have a k_deflt kernel and a k_uml kernel? Or does the UML patches only apply to the "standard" 2.4.21 kernel????
uml is part of the 2.6 kernel (it got merged quite a while ago). i imagine that they mean there is a rpm of the 2.4 kernel that includes the uml patches.
Uml is also available for SuSE 8.2 Just an info toganm@earth:~/hangar> cat /etc/SuSE-release SuSE Linux 8.2 (i586) VERSION = 8.2 toganm@earth:~/hangar> rpm -q uml-utilities uml-utilities-20030205-11 toganm@earth:~/hangar> rpm -qi uml-utilities Name : uml-utilities Relocations: (not relocateable) Version : 20030205 Vendor: SuSE Linux AG, Nuernberg, Germany Release : 11 Build Date: Fri Mar 14 03:56:35 2003 Install date: Wed Aug 27 08:04:18 2003 Build Host: Tank.suse.de Group : System/Management Source RPM: uml-utilities-20030205-11.src.rpm Size : 82827 License: GPL Packager : http://www.suse.de/feedback Summary : user mode linux utilities Description : user mode linux utilities So nothing amazing for 9.0 -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
