Forget about it. Some of these windows hands will never "get it".
Stuck way too deep in guiland. Real webmasters write html in vi or emacs.
Windows hands? You are asking for a flaming aren't you, especially if i forwarded this email to some of the top web designers in the UK - and that the ones I know use DreamWeaver. Can I use vi? YES Do I want to maintain a multipage web site using vi? NO Do I know html? YES Did I write html by "hand" way back when? YES Do I want to make life easy for myself? YES Its not a Windows/Linux issue. A pointless argument, needless to say. But you have NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER to say that REAL WEBMASTERS write html in vi. This implies I have imaginary webmaster friends - because they use Windows. Its a matter of preference - but I bet I can layout a table in DreamWeaver faster than you can type <table width="300px">. And, yes, I forgot - Linux doesn't have a gui. And I suppose proper Linux users don't use a window manager to make things easy for themselves? Its emails like this - where people can't admit to shortcomings of Linux - that makes Linux users look bad. I love Linux - I would get rid of Windows if I could do everything I wanted to do with my computer but can't because some excellent programs are written for that other OS. But there are some things which I can't do in Linux that I can do VERY easily in Windows. If you were an American biker, I bet you would have a Harley Davidson because its American - despite everyone knowing they aren't as good as a Japanese equivalent. Not just my opinion... I remember an American friend telling me that.
