Tbird 115 on 15.4 - Write Message - Menu Autohide only 1/2 Hidden - Grating appearance changes

All, Zypper up pulled in Thunderbird 115. It is horribly different from 102 and does not respect my color or theme choices that 102 did. Further, the interface is a bit buggy. The new-message window menu-autohide - doesn't completely hide the menu, you can see the bottom of all menu entries under the window titlebar: https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/8f0de87e7c53 What changed to radically to give tbird 115 such a different and unpleasant look? When I have tabs open in thunderbird, you can only see the active tab, all others are black-text on black-background ?? Is this libadwaita rearing its ugly head? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Problem with starting amavis after latest update of Tumbleweed

My previous 15.x and 15.y upgarded twice or more to 15.5 finally got to the point where it would recognize only that one of my two soundcards that wasn't plugged-in at the time. DON'T ask me hoe it did that!!! So I did a fresh install and am tweaking it. The card in use is a CMI8788 XONAR Essence STX-II. It gets recognised but there's this issue in the pulse Volume window: Input-Devices, port "whatever" selected, the slider remains DEAD. Since I use my compuker mostly for guitar sessions this is a no-go, my playing makes dogs howl but it risks getting better if I can't hear it

Thunderbird search

Hi, I type in the "Quick Filter" the string "strange power" without quotes. Obviously I expect to find messages containing that string, but instead it kicks in on messages containing "strange" or "power". Doesn't make sense... Apparently one has to use quotes. But I save the draft of this message in the "inbox" folder, and it doesn't find it. It does find it in the "Drafts" folder. Then I request the search in a gmail inbox, and again it finds "strange" or "power", despite I writing "strange power" with quotes. 77 hits. But if I remove the quotes, then it finds 345 messages... I can't figure it out. Maybe it is using the imap server implementation of search, and gmail does things differently. How I am not surprised. However, I know that Thunderbird does search in the inbox folders of servers that I know do not implement server side search (gmx.es). Alpine does the correct search, and in this inbox finds only the message I copied there. However, Alpine on gmail finds 77 mails, and they are not "strange power". Seems to be "strange" and "power" but not "strange power" necessarily. Alpine does not cache the bodies of the messages, so I know that it is using the imap server search feature. Not directly related, but thinking the post I search for was in Usenet, I grepped my news spool (28G), an operation that took 4 or 6 hours, but failed to find the correct message. CheckPoint SNX

Is anyone running the CheckPoint SNX client on openSUSE (e.g.Tumbleweed)? A remote user uses CheckPoint to provide VPN, and SNX seems to be the Linux client. I can start the program (a CLI program), but I cannot seem to make a connection. So I'm curious if it just does not work or if I need to plod on. Google gives mixed information. -- Roger Oberholtzer

Firefox 115 - Why am I getting Tbird Ads in Firefox asking me to donate? Don't we patch that?

Devs, For the first time I'm had a mozilla ad for thunderbird appear on firefox startup. I though we patched that and the version nag in our openSUSE version? Shouldn't that be disabled by patch for our distribution? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

The Date of the Date column corresponds to the Date at time of writing the final copy of the email. It is up to the software that wrote the software. For example, your OP has: Date: Mon, 7 Aug 2023 10:29:28 -0400 Now, the "received" date I don't know for sure which it is. I guess it is the dat of the "last" received header, so it depends on the receiver. In that same message, it is: Received: from dovector04.e.movistar.es ([217.116.1.118]) by lda06.e.movistar.es (Dovecot) with LMTP id ...5w for <...(a)telefonica.net>; Mon, 07 Aug 2023 16:29:55 +0200 You can see there is a difference of seconds. Firefox problems

This morning, I noticed a problem with Firefox, where pages won't load completely. It was working fine last night. The problem occurs on 2 different computers. I know there was an update a couple of days ago, but it worked fine until this morning. This is with both 115.1.0esr and 116.0. Chromium works fine. I'm running KDE on 15.4. tnx jk

What's included in the 'Minimal Virtual Machine' ISO images?

The openSUSE Leap download page says, "We also have Minimal Virtual Machine, images. Check out Alternative Downloads!" but doesn't describe them except to say, "Similar to the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Minimal-VM images." Are these images just a basic openSUSE Leap 15.5 with no applications beyond the virtualization software, or are they the Offline ISO with virtualization software pre-configured?
