Can't install OpenVPN 2.5.6 on Leap 15.3

I'm trying to install OpenVPN from https://software.opensuse.org/package/openvpn?locale=en Whether I use one click or expert download, I get an error about initializing the repository. https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/SUSE:/SLE-15-SP1:/GA/pool/ I have tried 2 different links for this and get the same error on both. Suggestions? tnx jk

No eth0 connection after soundcard config in Yast...

Hello, something strange happened on my OS 15.3 with KDE, after posting this here: > - during the bot messages I get > snd-hda-intel ... cannot probe codec, giving up Carlos said: > You just need to configure sound with Yast. So I happily went to Yast, Hardware, Audio... - I see two sound cards, Intel and Nvidia - I click on "Bearbeiten" on Intel (setup?) and chose "fast" -> sound gets switched of - I deleted both (clicked on delete, but nothing happened), said ok, rebooted, had sound again But: No network, no internet. After changing in Yast from networkmanager to wicked and then back again, I can now access WiFi, but ethernet isn't here (it doesn't show in Networkmanager). lspci -k gives: 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Controller I225-V (rev 03) Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device e000 Kernel modules: igc 05:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (rev 1a) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6 AX200NGW Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi Kernel modules: iwlwifi How can I make my ethernet/eth0 work again? Best way to move to a new PC

Hello, I just ordered a new computer and (hopefully) in a week I will (have to) install it. It will replace my current machine, which means that I need everything installed just the same on the new machine. There are many things that have my own settings (apache modules, sql databases, php setings... etc.), additional programs, changed versions, and on my last new install, years ago, I just did those things that I remembered manually, copied individual files, found out missing things weeks later... Is there a more intelligent, easier way to "clone" my current machine to the new one? There are several hardware differences, i9 instead of i7 processor, 6 instead of 4 disks, more memory, new graphics card, no DVD anymore, so just plugging in my system SDD into the new machine seems to be no option :-( One of my problems is that actually I don't remember all the changes I did during all those years, but I know, that some of them are necessary and at the time caused me a lot o headaches... I'd love to avoid that this time. Any hints about a procedure that makes sense and helps? (Oh: in a manner a simple user can understand, please). TW: no more "Have a lot of fun" ... ?

After 'dup'ing my TW system yesterday, I logged in this morning over ssh, and had this weird feeling I was missing something. After some more trials, I spotted it - the MOTD "Have a lot of fun" is gone ? In earlier times, it was in /etc/motd, which was part of 'openSUSE-release', but it's no longer there. I see the text in '/usr/lib/motd.d/welcome' though. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (15.5°C)

Tumbleweed update

I have a Tumbleweed system that was last updated Oct 2019. I am running Trac (https://trac.edgewall.org/), which has been slow to move to Python 3 - and it is just about there now. I did not want to chance messing up the Python 2 setup that has been working fine. So, I abstained from updating until the dust settled. Given the amount of time that has passed, is it reasonable to expect that an update in the near future would work? I worry about things like the /usr/lib64 move. And probably other things that have been rather big. All done at once. Has anyone else left such a big time between Tumbleweed updates? I do not generally do that with my other Tumbleweed systems. This was a special case. I am using this system in production. So I know, do a backup. Everything of interest is on a separate (from the OS) RAID volume. I might disconnect that during the update. I have generally been lucky. I am running snapper. Aside from a couple small installs of some packages, thee main snapshot is from Oct 2019. I do not want it to be removed. It is rather old. I guess I need to check the rules for this to be sure it won't be removed as part of a cleanup. Anything else to think of? -- Roger Oberholtzer

[a little OT] old cal sunday-first-day behavior

Hi, all -- I just found on my LEAP 15.{1,2} boxes that cal(1) defaults to Monday as the first day of the week. While this can be changed with -s (Sunday), it is inconvenient. There is also a -m (Monday) flag to set the current behavior. Without getting into flame wars of which is "right", does anyone know of an environment variable that will set Sunday as the default, or (short of writing a wrapper, which is stupid) is there another way to accomplish the original behavior, or is there an alternate RPM install that sets it, or ... do I just have to rebuild from scratch? Best place to ask for help with current mailing list account?

Hi, this past week on Friday I sent a message to support(a)lists.opensuse.org regarding an issue I am having with my mailing list account after I removed my OpenID from within (which I should not have done). I have not heard a response back as of yet. So I decided to ask here as to the best place to resend the message if possible. I would prefer not to create yet another account on openSUSE mailing lists with yet another username. After reading Per Jessens mailing Re: List switched to "reject posts from non-subscribers" I was looking over my mailing list account etc.... Thanks for all your work with openSUSE also.

how to read reiserfs on 15.3? What to do with "old" backups?

I know reiserfs was removed from 15.3. Still I have many TB external disks with Reiserfs (encrypted). I can't read them right now. First question: How can I read those backups? libreiserfscore0 and reiserfs are installed, but plugging such a disk leads to a message "unknown file system". What else do I need to install? Second question: What do I do with those encrypted Reiserfs backups? Do I really have to copy all that tremendous amount of data to other disks, newly format the original one, and copy back? (I have a laptop with 15.2 where I still can read them) Is there another way? Copying all those TB would take me about a week, I guess... Thanks for any ideas.
