Static IP For Container in Rootless Pod? And Other n00b Questions

Just hand-built a pod from the docker-compose.yaml for mailu/postfix. But two problems: - Is the correct way to set the CIDR for a pod: --network=slirp4netns:cidr=10.2.21.0/24 ? - One of the containers in the pod is unbound, which provides DNS for the other containers. So it must have a static IP, but in pod run --ip= does not work. "Error: invalid config provided: rootless containers and pods cannot be assigned static IP addresses" What do you do about this? - How does unbound get its queries out of the pod to an authoritatative nameserver? - The pod is not auto-starting on boot. There is no --restart-always when creating a pod, so systemd? -

Leap 15.0 oss repo w/odd location (boot/x86_64) for a font repo in primary.xml

In the repodata dir for the oss repo, the primary.xml file usually lists all the packages and their locations for that repo. In the repo D/l area, its listed as some long hex# "<hex#>-primary.xml.gz" in the "oss/repodata/" dir. The rpm package referred to is has name "arphic-uming-fonts" of type "noarch". Files in the oss repo are in the x86_64 or noarch subdirs. One file, a chinese font file (that usually would be under 'noarch') is under "oss/boot/x86_64/". 1) why is a file in the oss repo referring to a "boot" dir? 2) why is a font under an x86_64 dir (under a boot dir) instead of a 'noarch' dir? 2a) Does it have executable code in the rpm package? (unlikely) But why, at least, not under "boot/noarch", but that is given that it is also under some dir named 'boot'. Weird location: <location href="boot/x86_64/arphic-uming-fonts.rpm"/> I don't know about anyone else, but if I look for a pkg in a distro, I usually look under 'oss/x86_64|noarch', never under 'oss/boot/x86_64' for a package with no ver/rel in its pathname. Other data in primary.xml indicates it's version is: <version epoch="0" ver="0.2.20080216.1" rel="lp150.1.7"/> Anyway, likely no big deal, but seemed odd.

kDE3 resolution problem in Leap 15.2

has anyone found a solution for the limits Leap has for KDE3 resolution. Seems to have a silly limit of 1024x768 which is nonsense. I have more than that on a monitor on my achient HP Kayak which runs 10.0 and Legacy DOS/Win311. Sorry if this is the wrong place but no sign of the KDE3 list for a month now. is the packman repository down? moving servers? having a bad day? my failing url is http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_Leap_15.2/ when i disable it and then try to add anew using yast, community, it is no longer listed as an option

Hi, I'm really quite lost currently. I'm trying to change my LAMP setup based on 15.2 to use event MPM and PHP through fcgi and fpm. I just don't get it to work though. I had expected to find massive amounts of docs how to do it because of LAMP being an extremely common usecase and apache prefork being an extremely weak choice resource wise. I found quite some tutorials for other distributions which didn't work. I also found https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Apache_FastCGI_and_PHP-FPM_configuration obviously but following that just does not work for me. The situation I'm ending up with is that I get a directory listing when entering my webserver target. Calling index.php directly offers to download it. I guess there is probably missing only a very small piece in the article above but I'm not able to figure it out. Anyone an idea? Thanks, Wolfgang

TW mystery console boot message: [ 5.299369]

I'm seeing a sole console message during splash=silent boots. The message is a number in square brackets, for example [ 5.299369]. The value is always padded with leading spaces and is roughly in the range 5.* to 6.*. It appears some time between the boot splash and X11/sddm startup. This makes me suspect it could be something like the seconds from boot to login prompt. If I switch from sddm to a console, I can see the same message just above the "Welcome to OpenSUSE Tumbleweed..." Is everyone seeing such a message? On a related issue, I also see "eth0: <ipv4-address> <mac-address>" just below the "Welcome to OpenSUSE Tumbleweed...". Is that new, I can't say I'd noticed that before. No big deal, just a bit curious. BTW - I'm using the proprietary Nvidia driver, which might make my bootup messages a bit different than the norm. Michael

Leap 15.2 KDE file associations

On a recent Leap 15.2 install, I seem not to be able to get KDE to remember file associations. More specifically, which application to run for the file. If I select a file in Konqueror, and then select an application in the dialog Konqueror provides, and click the box that says to remember this, when I click again on that same file, it once again asks which application to use. It never remembers the association. It does run the application after I select it. But never again unless I select the application again. When I say that the association should be remembered, I get the status window saying that something is being updated. There is no error. In the X log, I see this when the association is selected and being remembered: kbuildsycoca4 running... So if there is an error, it is not presented anywhere I see. Has anyone else seen this? -- Roger Oberholtzer

In the discussion of root passwords, Felix discussed using partition labels instead of UUIDs. I've long considered doing this, but I have several LUKS-encrypted partitions, and none of the documentation I've read has anything to say about using labels in that situation. 15.2 root password

Background first - I am writing an interface for configuring wifi over a small 160x80 display and a numeric keypad only. I am only just getting my feet wet with wpa_supplicant - for working with wpa_cli, I seem to need /var/run/wpa_supplicant as specified in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf. /var/run/wpa_supplicant seems to be missing ? (on at least three systems I've looked at). Judging by the man page for wpa_supplicant.conf, what we (openSUSE) provide as a default is wrong? We have ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant ctrl_interface_group=wheel whereas the man page suggests: ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=wheel 'ctrl_interface_group' is not even mentioned in the man page. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (4.2°C)

Installing MicroOS and Other Issues

Hello, anyone friendly here? I get all kinds of grief on IRC about MicroOS. I'm concerned about the future of MicroOS because they tell me I am the only one running it. No one will even help with OpenSuse questions because I'm running MicroOS. Miuku says he has no use for MicroOS. No one recognizes the hacker-resistance that immutability confers, not to mention rollbacks, etc. I find that once you learn its secrets it runs great, but with little or no uptake by others, is this a dead project? Tell me now, before I standardize on it. Second, I am trying to install mailu/postfix into the current MicroOS. I've managed to install podman3 and docker, and have set up the mailu config files. But when I run $ docker-compose up -d Creating network "mailu_default" with driver "bridge" Pulling redis (redis:alpine)... ERROR: Get https://registry-1.docker.io/v2/: dial tcp: lookup registry-1.docker.io on [::1]:53: dial udp [::1]:53: connect: cannot assign requested address # Yep, I have IPV6 disabled. But running a grep for [::1]:53 in ~ and /etc I come up empty. Why in the world does it only try IPV6? Any idea where to neuter this? Also, I am downloading MicroOS https://download.opensuse.org/ports/aarch64/tumbleweed/iso/openSUSE-MicroOS… . This is for an ODroid N2+. Once I get it, do I dd to a USB flash and boot to install?
