When did you last zypper dup? And, no btrfs? Running TW means you 'have' to zypper dup regularly. Otherwise choose Leap 15 as your distro. FWIW: My TW has not broken in years. I am lost. In the "I don't understand" way. Google has not helped much, either. If I bypass my router, i.e. patch directly to my ethernet port on the 'puter (networking set to dhcp) I can no longer access https websites. I get the IP addr from the ISP's server ok, I can go to different sites ok but all https sites return an error. The specific wording is different on different sites but basically it is indicating a security error. I assume then that my router has some security certificate or similar mechanism that is passed to these sites that my 'puter doesn't. How to enable it? It would seem to be a really simple thing but I can find nothing that helps me figure it out. SSL 3.3 or TLS 1.2 is what my Firefox uses when connected to https sites using the router, so that doesn't seem to be the issue. [opensuse] Digital tachopgraph - GPS data

I forget which thread this was in - I mentioned the that new tachograph starting 2006 would be digital and I think Carlos asked if they were going to be recording GPS too. I've just come across an article saying that as 15 June 2019, all new vehicles will require the new intelligent tachograph. https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/DE/ALL/?uri=CELEX%3A32014R0165 according to which the device will also store GPS data, namely at the beginning/end of the daily work, as well as after every 3 hours of accumulated driving time. The technical spec says the devices will support Galileo, Glonass and plain USGPS. It will also have a Bluetooth interface for the driver to use with his smartphone or tablet, an optional ITS interface for use by the driver/haulier, and a short-range DSRC interface for use by officials, toll stations and maybe On Board Weighing systems. Article 7 of 165/204 describes the applicable data protection. I am not able to start the interfact p12p1, it pauses and then says setup in progress, but it never comes up. Friday question - I'm using the Leap15 jeos on an ARM board. root is ext4 on an SD card, and mounted with 'nobarrier' by default. [opensuse] gtktalog date column view

Hello: I used gtktalog catalog software years ago. Now I would like to use it again. I installed it on openSUSE Leap 42.3 from this source: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/marec2000:/multimedia/openS… The program installs and runs, but the date column looks strange and the dates are hard to read. Here is a screenshot: http://susepaste.org/view//49756983 I tried gtktalog in openSUSE 13.1 too and it looks the same. Is this caused by the program or the installed gtk/gnome environment? Can I fix it or does it need program rebuild? Suggestions for other catalog programs are welcome too. On KDE (4.4 on openSUSE 42.3), I have strange icon behavior. If an icon is in some folder, and one clicks on it (in Dolphin), the icon does not execute. Instead, it is opened in kate. If the icon is on the Desktop, this does not happen (i.e., in $HOME/Desktop). It executes when you click on it. I am fairly certain that this did not do this before. The icon properties can be edited by right-clicking. So they are known to be icons by KDE/Dolphin. They just do not execute. They have execute permission (not sure if that matter. All start with #!/usr/bin/env xdg-open It makes no difference if they have .desktop as an extension. Except that when they do, .desktop is included in the name shown. I think that did not happen before. Could there be some setting in KDE that has gotten confused and is causing this? I don't see this on all systems. And unless I am missing something, both working and odd systems are configured the same. [opensuse] Can no longer dual boot after installing Leap 15
