[opensuse] Software Defined Radio

I need to find the source of some radio interference. So I've ordered an RTL-SDR kit and now I need to find some suitable software. I don't know much about radio - I could just about explain the difference between AM and FM :( So if anybody can suggest places to look for info or specific packages that are good for locating interference and also easy to use for a noob, I'd be very grateful. [opensuse] midi bandlab rpm--where?

Downloaded (I thought) BandLab, but did not apparently get an installable rpm file. Looking on Google doesn't seem to find it. Can I run Bandlab on Tumbleweed, and if so, how? [opensuse] Determine which Firefox tab from PID

I have a couple Firefox windows open and with multiple tabs open in each window. One of the webpages in one of those tabs is misbehaving, running the CPU up to 100% (and heating up this laptop). I have determined which Firefox PID that is causing the problem, but how do I find out which Firefox tab corresponds to that PID? Running "ps -Fp [pidnum]" gives a lot of info, but not which window and tab, or the bad webpage's URL, or anything else helpful. (Note: Yes, "kill [pidnum]" works, but I'd like to know the URL that is misbehaving.) [opensuse] a puzzle for the last week up to Christmas

For the last couple of days I have I been trying to install leap15.1 on a small Zotac Nano, a fanless mini PC. It is destined to become my new livingroom mythtv client. Until this morning, I was stopped at trying to make it boot after installation. It reads in the kernel and the initrd (afaict, judging by the time it takes) then it fails to mount the root device (/dev/sda2) and halts immediately. "unknown block device 0,0" (or some such). I have assumed it somehow does not load the right modules to access the SATA drive, and I been rebuilding the initrd with all kinds of variations. (force load modules etc). The Zotac does not have a serial port, so capturing all of the output isn't possible. I have tried with a USB-to-serial converter, but couldn't get it to work. afaict, netconsole also only loads later? Hmm, may have to try that one again. This morning, I decided I would copy the kernel and initrd to my tftp server and boot them with pxe. I had no expectations that this would produce any better result, just pure desperation. It worked!!! You can run the tftp daemon from xinetd or just permanently. I run it permanently, but it doesn't matter. I use /srv/tftpboot as my main directory. Hello, I try to configure Bumblebee on my asus N550JK optimus computer running Leap 15.1, following the page: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_Bumblebee but the page do not adress 15.1, but at best 15.0 and at the point where I am Bumblebee don't run. [opensuse] Python 2 EOL

In a short while, Python 2 will officially no longer be supported. As one would expect, distributions will no longer be making software packages based on Python 2. What is the plan for openSUSE Leap? When QT4 was no longer supported, packages were removed as part of keeping the system up-to-date. Unless one locked the various packages, they were gone. Will the same happen with Python2 packages? Should any users who rely on Python 2 lock all the needed packages? Or will they be left alone for a while? My biggest concern is the Trac package. We rely on this very much. I do not want to risk that the packages needed to keep it running get removed. I will be happy when Trac is finally running on Python 3. But it seems it (and many 3rd party plugins) are simply not there yet. Is there perhaps an rpm command that one can run to get a list of all packages that require python2? One cannot assume that the package name will always indicate this. [opensuse] running a tcsh script on a bash system

Dear all. I'm having an issue with something I though would (or should) be a really dumb problem. I have a long tcsh script (which I won't adapt to bash) to run on a bash system (which will not be modified into a tcsh system due to other scripts needs). It would also be nice that the script runs with a syntax as simple as "./script_name.x". So, I've thought about doing something as simple as writing: #!/bin/tcsh at the beggining of the script. However, since it failed, I tested and discovered that: #!/bin/tcsh echo $SHELL Would still tell me I'm in bash. What am I missing here? Wasn't it supposed to work?
