You can do this by choosing the "advanced options" when booting up. Login is now handled by systemd. To see the journal it is easy: journalctl -h gives you all the options. It may be necessary to be sudo or su - to run it for the boot journal. Also the "ksystemlog" should be functional although I prefer the command line. The option journalctl -r presents you the journal in reverse order (the latest lines first). Hi, Since I while, when I boot my PC, it hangs when Leap starts. I.e. when the diamond-shape with the three dots appears, those dots stall after a while. I let the PC sit like that for a considerable time to test if that helps, but it doesn't. It does not react to the keyboard. The only way to recover is to press the power or reset-button. I found that pressing the escape key the moment the diamond-shape appears to get the boot-logging makes the pc to start up to the login-screen. Then all is fine. I once got the situation where pressing the escape key did not help. I have a picture of that, should it be interesting. The last line said "mounted /var/log", the lines before were mostly similar messages of mounting things. There was also a message of checking a file-system. Any suggestions how to try to debug this ? In older times, you could look at boot.log and boot.old (I think) but now I can't find that boot.old. FWIW, the disk uses btrfs. [opensuse] OT: AOC monitor input selection

I have an AOC I2770PQ monitor and have got myself into a Catch 22 situation. The monitor has an input selection feature, chosen from the OSD menu, and I have mistakenly set it to DVI. The computers I have available can only provide either HDMI or D-SUB (VGA) outputs, so I need to change the input selector on the monitor menu. Unfortunately the monitor also has power-saving features and in particular if it detects no input on the chosen input, it goes into power-saving mode. In power-saving mode the OSD menu cannot be activated AFAICT. Apart from joining me in swearing at AOC's product designers, does anybody happen to have any potentially productive suggestions? [opensuse] OT? Can I limit bandwidth to someone on the same wifi net?

Hello, I use leap 42.1 and have an ADSL connection with the standard router delivered by the phone company (telefonica, Spain). When I have guests they connect their phones (I give them the password) to my wifi with the dhcp of the router. And then my internet gets very slow, as most people use a lot of apps that keep them connected all the time, I guess. Is it possible that somehow I give preference to my own laptop and phone, or kind of restrict the bandwidth for the other ones? So that my bandwidth doesn't get so much affected, but instead theirs? I have no idea about net configuration, I don't even know if I would have to do something like that on the router or with a program from my laptop... I'd be grateful for any hints that even a dummy can understand :-) Thanks. [opensuse] Signing a PDF

Hi, I would like to digitally sign a pdf, with my e-id card. I made the document in LibreOffice and I exported this as a pdf. How do I sign that pdf ? When exporting the pdf in LibreOffice, there is a dialog, which has a tab-sheet to digitally sign the pdf. Unfortunately I seem unable to select to use my e-id card. With Thunderbird, I can successfully sign a message (this message e.g.) with my e-id card and in Firefox, I can authenticate with the card. So, any hints are welcome, B.T.W. that with the Belgian e-id card, but probably the procedure for other cards would be the same. Thanks, Koenraad.

So he recommended the TW kernel from tumbleweed?? But can I install a TW kernel on a leap system without updating to TW? I do wish to resolve the Problem with WLAN not to change the whole system.
