[opensuse] CLI access to Android Atrix?

Just got an Atrix G4. Google hasn't been very useful at telling me how to do CLI access to the files there via USB and CLI (cli on the attached desktop machine) Any advice? TIA. To be sure this is what one has, which packages should be installed and which not? I have what I expected to be what you describe, but the network manager has not been working correctly for a while. I get messages like this in the pop-up window: "We need Network Manager version between 0.8.1 and 0.8.10, found 0.8.9997" and under each interface it just says: "Error: Invalid state" I am guessing I have some unmatched RPMS. All of KDE is set to be 4.7. This is on openSUSE 11.4. The wlan interface is started, and access points located. [opensuse] installing openSUSE on an older pc

Ok, next problem. I have an older pc for my kids that was running windows xp on it. It is an old Dell desktop with a dual core (I think) Intel Pentium 4 processor and 256MB of RAM. I completely removed XP and installed 32bit OS 11.4 and it is now up and running. However, it runs really, really slow. Basically it is unusable. I kind of expected that, but I wanted to try it out anyway. I assume the problem is not enough memory, right? So what is the best course of action to get it usable for my kids? Is the problem with KDE? Does KDE take up too much RAM to run in the new 4.6? Should I try and downgrade to an earlier version of KDE? If so, how do I get the older KDE packages and install them? Or is the problem with the whole distribution? I have disks for OS 11.1 and OS 9.3. Should I install one of those instead of 11.4? What do I need to look at to figure out the source of the problem and figure out how to fix it, if the easy solution is not just downgrading everything? [opensuse] setting up a dual boot system

Ok, my next project is to migrate my work laptop over to a dual boot system. It has a windows vista installation on a 500gb hard drive. (It was originally a 320 gb hard drive, and I made a mirror image of that to a 500gb hard drive, changed it out, so that I would have extra room.) Here is the setup that the Yast analysis suggested while I am installing SUSE linux from the installation disk. You can see that the extra 167gb is used entirely for Linux: /dev/sda 465.76 GB TOSHIBA-MK5065GS 0 60800 /dev/sda1 39.06 GB HPFS/NTFS NTFS /windows/C 0 5099 /dev/sda2 259.03 GB HPFS/NTFS NTFS kep /windows/D 5099 38912 /dev/sda3 167.67 GB Extended 38913 68000 /dev/sda5 2.01 GB Linux swap swap swap 38913 39176 /dev/sda6 20.00 GB Linux native Ext4 / 39176 41786 /dev/sda7 145.65 GB Linux native Ext4 /home 41787 60800 (by the way, I had to type this in by hand, as I can't copy and paste here during the installation) My original thought was that I wanted to shrink the windows D volume "kep" down to 70 GB and start the Linux swap at that point on the system, so that my /home directory would be bigger by about 200GB. So I tried to "move" the extended partition using the expert partitioner (I am still in the install program), and it would not let me, saying that the drive had already been created. (this probably happened when the power went out in the middle of the first install, and I am having to reinstall now, but I don't know for sure). So my question is, if I shrink the windows D volume to 70 GB (I only have 55 gb of data on it), will I be able to format those sectors later and mount it as another partition, like /sda4, and use it to store more data? The expert partitioner will not let me do anything with the empty space at this point in the installation, but here is what the table looks like: /dev/sda 465.76 GB TOSHIBA-MK5065GS 0 60800 /dev/sda1 39.06 GB HPFS/NTFS NTFS /windows/C 0 5099 /dev/sda2 70.00 GB HPFS/NTFS NTFS kep /windows/D 5099 14236 /dev/sda3 167.67 GB Extended 38913 68000 /dev/sda5 2.01 GB Linux swap swap swap 38913 39176 /dev/sda6 20.00 GB Linux native Ext4 / 39176 41786 /dev/sda7 145.65 GB Linux native Ext4 /home 41787 60800 So you see, sectors 14237 (are they called sectors or something else?) through 383912 are unused and unformatted if I shrink the volume. Would it be better to just go on and keep it as NTFS? The only way that would help me out is that I could store files on that drive that would be usable to both windows and linux. However, the only thing I am really planning to use windows for is updating my ipod, and a particular work program I have that won't run under anything besides windows. What are the disadvantages to keeping it as NTFS? Does linux access the files more slowly if they are in NTFS format? [opensuse] Libre Office - Howto set paste to default to "Unformatted Text?"

Guys I hate word processors they try to think for themselves and end up causing formatting problems galore. The recent Libre Office sucks for copy/paste operations. If I try to paste plain text from an email or text file into a document, Libre automatically screw the document format up by changing all pasted text to a fixed width font. I don't want paste touching the font, I just want it to paste the text into the current document in whatever font the document is in. To accomplish this I have to use "Paste Special" and then choose "Unformatted Text". That works and should be the default for paste anyway. My question is where can I set this as the default behavior for paste?? I don't want to have to use "Paste Special" just to paste "Normal Plain Text" every time I paste. What say the Libre Office gurus? Where is this magical setting? -- David C. [opensuse] Akonadi and KWallet at startup

I am trying to figure out why Akonadi-Kontact ask me everytime the system startup a KWallet password. It's there a way to make them work properly ? Maybe it's related or not. If a close Kontact and try to open it later ocassionally it does not open at all but other programs (KMail, Calendar, etc.) are able to open despite Kontact. [opensuse] DVD Input/output Error - Cannot read DVD disks

Hello I recently purchased two new DVD burners. Neither of this DVD drive were able to read some DVD R that I burned with my older DVD burner. I am able to read the disk with a windows computer so I do not think there is a problem with the DVD media. I experienced the same problem with both of the DVD burners. I cannot read the first 271 MB of a disk and then will report an Input/output error for the remaining data. Have manufactures moved the error handling from the DVD burner to the Windows driver? Did I purchash two bad DVD burners? The first of DVD burner was a Memorex and my current burner is a Plextor PX-L890SA. When I try to install MPlayer-1.0rc4_r33574-1.pm.1.2.i586 on my computer I get following info: nothing provides libjpeg.so.62(LIBJPEG_6.2) needed by MPlayer-1.0rc4_r33574-1.pm.1.2.i586 Without this lib, mplayer does not start up.
