[opensuse] Yakuake configuration, how to ..

Using Yakuake konsole since 11.2 and like it. Have upgrade to 11.3 RC2 and found a difference. In 11.2 Yakuake came on the desktop with F12 and removed itself from the desktop as soon as some other program was started and touched the konsole. In my new setup the Yakuake konsole remains on the desk and can only be removed of the desktop view with another F12. Looked in the help file and checked the configuration setup but did not find anything with which I could get back the earlier function. I've had a move of a mail-hub zap my inbox by - without warning me - zapping /var/spool/mail Probably me being stupid and overlooking something. Again So it doesn't happen again I'd like to have mail delivered to ~anton/Mail/INBOX So I put a line in .procmailrc to that effect DEFAULT=/home/anton/Mail/INBOX Well just in case mail gets delivered that DOESN'T go though procmail (yes, I do have a .forward that reads: "|IFS=' '&&exec /usr/bin/procmail || exit 75 #anton" but I'm paranoid) I decided to symlink /var/spool/mail/anton to ~anton/ail/INBOX Well procmail doesn't like that. It says renaming bogus mailbox "/var/spool/mail/anton" \ info "/var/spool/mail/BOGUS.anton/YM" Well, WHY? Oh, and yes I know I can reset delivery with /etc/postfix/main.cf by using home_mailbox = Mail/INBOX but that does it for all users. So why won't procmail honour symlink? Security - obviously. But is there a way to make this do what I want? -- Time flies like the wind. It > always works for me. Yep, tried exactly that. It asks for a password, not a shared key. I copy and paste in the PSK shared key and it asks again. I do it again and it goes away silently without connecting. What type of key/passphrase are you using? Im trying to copy a file with cp on a XFS filesystem, but I get this all the time cp siri-1.vmdk siri-2.vmdk cp: reading `siri-1.vmdk': Input/output error Any ideas on how I can save the file? I have unmounted the volume and run xfs_repair, but it didn't help. [opensuse] Problem with NVIDIA GeForce G310M ?

Hi, friends, Introduction: Bought a new laptop Asus PL30JT-RO030X - unfortunately only with Win7PRO :-(. Wanted to install openSUSE 11.2 and failed at 1st because of a too slow external DVD drive (via USB). With a more modern drive I'd success (BIOS has recognized the drive) and the installation went on without hickups. Problem: Trying to boot the installed system initially it goes as usual (I see the kernel messages during boot flying over the screen). But then - when it comes to the graphical login - the screen goes dark and NOTHING more is happening :-( Analysis: Succeeded in booting a live UBUNTU and could save some logfiles to a stick. I see some error messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log which hardens my suspects it could be a matter with the graphics. Unfortunately I'm (not yet) fit enough to interpret those error messages good enough. The Xorg.0.log and some more logfiles can be found at http://www.blaettner.com/Computer/ - I didn't want to make this mail unnecessarily fat. The 1201N has an Atheros AR8132/L1C Gigabit ethernet adapter. This uses the atl1c driver which runs the adapter at 100Mb. Is there a driver to run it at full speed? A Google search couldn't find one. The touchpad should support two finger scrolling, but that option is grayed out. I've tried to run gsynaptics, but it doesn't help. [opensuse] What is the current setup for 'zypper dup'ing' 11.2-11.3 when it is released?

Guys, When 11.3 appears, what is the current scheme for using zypper dup to jump versions. Where my notes end are: (1) configure all repositories for the next version; then (2) issue 'zypper dup' to perform the upgrade. That seems a little slim on details. Hello, This morning I dedided to update one of my systems from 11.2 to 11.3 RC2 (x86_64). It has been the most easy update I've ever done for a SUSE O.S, (since 6.3) :-) The first time I have not needed to select manually wich packages to mantain/supress/update. As expected, I had to delete some Packman/VLC/multimedia packages, but no confict to resolve manually. Good ! Then, no problem at all when installing. Just a question about the time spent in some packages. I observed it also in 11.2 Why a lot of gnome packages take so long time to install?. KDE4 packages are far long faster than gnome to install. Once installed and rebooted, procedded to add some 11.3 repositories. Most of them still are not in wiki and doc pages, but when replacing in '11.2' by '11.3' in 11.2 URLs we get the repositories!. The exception is NVIDIA repository for 11.3. There is still no repo, AFAIK. This time, for NVIDIA and ATI, the things are a bit more complicated because we will need to change the kernel modeset before to install a binary propietary driver. I am wondering if openSUSE will invent an easy way to swich form nouveau to nvidia. It seems openSUSE team has done a good job!. Guys, On 11.0, x86_64, if you try and use quanta upload (F8), you never get a list of files to upload (the changed files) and the CPU is stuck at 90% load. What to check? Then, for all but the smallest projects, (3-4 files) it is like quanta can never finish parsing it's own project list to decide what to upload to the server. Really really strange because on i586, it has no problems with the same projects, etc.. I have double-confirmed that the project files and upload files are correct by copying the project from an i586 box. Works fine on i586 - broken on x86_64. It's like quanta gets stuck in a loop with some type of race condition on the x86_64 box. It normally takes quanta 2-3 secs to check for new/changed files. 5 minutes later, I'm still waiting. Any guesses on this one? Faulty kio? Botched environment where quanta is trying to use kde4 kio's on x86_64? Confounded... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Guys, Here is a strange twist of events. Firefox 3.6.6 on 11.0 will not show my trusty RADAR site, but opera has no problem. That's a FIRST. What say the experts? Wolfgang, you listening? Also, why have the colors for my editor window changed from an off-white on dark-gray background to red text on baby-blue background? [opensuse] lpadmin -d acts different than expected

Sorry if this is already discussed. I did not find anything in the archives. I want to change the default printer queue on an 11.2 system. So, as I have always done, as root I ran lpadmin -d newQueue. For root, lpstat -a tells the proper thing. The odd thing is that all other users still have the old printer as the default. Implying that the default printer is per-user. I can buy that. Is that the case? So, root's lpstat, yast and the cups web server all claim that newQueue is the default. But a non-root user gets the old one. Is there some place where each user can set this up in kde? I searched for 'print' in KDE's configuration, and got no matches. [opensuse] How to set another resolution on my desktop?

Working happily with my 11.3RC1 but ran into a problem with the resolution and refresh rate. After boot it shows resolution 1024x768 with a refresh rate of 85. This is above the rate from my monitor supplier. If I change that into 1280x1024 refresh auto it gives a much better image and gives a rate from 65, well below the manufacturers info. I have tried in vain to save this setting but after every reboot it is the old resolution and refresh rate again. In former versions I would go to sax and finish the problem. */Evening. Have been trying to do some videos using kdenlive, and having issues when trying to render the completed project. It seems that there is a problem (memory leak) with the current packman version of mlt 0.5.2 Apparently V0.5.4 fixes the problem. Have tried compiling mlt from source, but then my kdenlive crashes. Have been going round in circles with this. Has anybody got a working solution that doesn't have the memory leak??
