[opensuse] Can't get Evolution 2.30 to connect to an Exchange Global Address List

I'm just curious if anyone else has had an issues with Evolution 2.30 (from the openSUSE 11.3 release) connecting with to a MS Exchange 2003 GAL. Because I've gone round and round with this one and I can't get it to work. Evolution itself will connect and display the email messages. I can even see the regular contacts stored on the Exchange server. But every time I try to open the GAL, I get this error message: Unable to open address book This address book cannot be opened. This either means that an incorrect URI was entered, or the server is unreachable. Detailed error message: Other error I've checked and my entry in the GAL field is correct. And I have an 11.2 box that has no problems connecting, so I know that the server is available. I've tried connecting with: - a fresh install (evolution-exchange 2.30.1-2.12) - a fully patched install (which has no Evolution updates) - using the Gnome 2.30 repository (evolution-exchange 2.30.3-1.1) None of them work. They all give the same error message. In desperation, I tried Ubuntu 10.10 (which runs Evolution 2.30.3); and it is able to connect to the GAL. It assures that when you build kernel modules, etc.. you actually get a working module for the current kernel. Just let the new rpms that do conflict replace the current 2.6.34 packages. I think you can just look at the dependency conflict and manually uninstall the one that conflicts and then use the 'rpm -ivh *.rpm'. [opensuse] Perennial laptop query - wanting to run openSUSE 11.2+

I am investigating getting a new laptop. For the most part I know what I should expect to work. Unfortunately, the graphics chip seems to be the tricky part. It seems to me that Nvidia is getting less and less common in laptops. At least the ones generally available here in Sweden. Like HP, Sony, and the like. All the laptops that I come across that have all the features I want (reasonable screen size, non-Sherpa weight, nice keyboard) seem to have ATI rather than Nvidia chipsets. Like Radeon HD 5850 or 5860. I know that there has been progress on the ATI driver front. My last use of an ATI card (a firewire GL that was not supported by the ATI driver), as well as general rumbling by other users, indicates that I should steer clear of ATI chips. Is this still the case? It is obviously a YMMV question. But how are others faring with similar ATI chipsets? I don't want a religious war. I know I will probably get one. The result is that I don't get to the GRUB prompt anymore, because the screen goes black after the POST routine. There is no difference when the boot order is set for either HD. I found that DFSee says that "MBR boot code unknown to DFSee" (it should be generic). So I thought to take a shot at making new MBR code. When it came to choosing which HD, DFSee reported that the sole disk present as "1 Disk2 ....". Before any of this mess happened, I reported to Jan that, depending where in DFSee one looked, the HD numbers were interchanged, or they were both labeled Disk2. [opensuse] MinGW versions of openSUSE libraries

I really like the idea of the MinGW version of libraries and other things on openSUSE that is available in OBS. I am planning on moving some of the Windows libs that I maintain to using the ones in OBS. However, (there had to be a however, right?) I am a bit confused: There are on OBS versions of, say, libtiff, for openSUSE and for Windows. Interestingly, there is a MinGW repository for each release of openSUSE. For example, windows:/mingw:/win32/openSUSE_11.2 I would think that the reason for having different versions of the MinGW repos is that each can contain a version that matches the version installed in the corresponding openSUSE release. Alas, that is not the case. For example, on openSUSE 11.2, libtiff is at version 3.8.2, while the MinGW version is 3.9.4. This is the case for many, perhaps even most, libraries. If the version in the windows:/mingw:/win32/openSUSE_XX.X directory has nothing to do with the version of that library installed in openSUSE_XX.X, why are there version for each openSUSE release? -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O.
