[opensuse] where to place the library glib

I am brushing up my C coding capability ... if any (???) I started up with a stand-alone simple program (see attachment) hich I compile through one simple command line. The compiler cannot resolve the include statement about elements that belong to glib, no matter how I reshuffle such statements (error messages pasted at the bottom of this message). Since an assistant professor and I installed the glib in such a way as to make the undocumented code, developed by a student who left some months ago, work somehow ... I am afraid we messed up the glib installation so that instead of having its pieces stored in the standard system files its pieces were spread elsewhere therefore the gcc compiler cannot find them. My question is: where is the glib expected to be installed by default (as gcc expects) ? How can I make up for the mess we did ? I mean, shall I un-install glib (how) and then reinstall it again following the standard pathway ? [opensuse] 11.2 nvidia drivers

Will 11.2 have a Nvidia repository? I have RC2 KDE live running from a USB stick and no Nvidia repo shows. Yast doesn't show anything about screen resolution either and I'm stuck at 800x600 using sax2. Everything else looks excellent. Thanks. [opensuse] New strange behaving icons on my 11.1

Keeping my desktop updated to the latest packages. After my latest update I got suddenly 8 new icons shown on my window. Three times ATA SAMS, one ATA ST343 and a new Home, extra (name of one name of the partition table)a Temp and a root icon. A mouse click on the ATA icons gives an activity which begins with File /org/freedesk...._d + numbers and ends with Timeout on org server. The new Home icon gives Unable to run the command specified. The file or folder file://$HOME does not exist. Where do these icons belong to and what are they expected to do? I connected the new monitor, ran sax2, and now I have an 1920x1200 screen with crappy fonts. Some letters are bold, all of them are hard to read. It depends on position and symbol. For example if I tap the "f" button in a terminal than every fifth, sixth, seventh f character becomes bold. If I backspace the character, and type again, the error occures. If I try with another character than it would be OK. I read the howtos about subpixel hinting. I installed freetype2 fonts from the community repo (http://opensuse-community.org/subpixel/openSUSE_11.1) and I set subpixel hinting in KDE's control center. It became a bit better, but it is far from comfortable. Huge letters are much better, but not perfect neither. I use the nvidia driver from the nvidia repo. Do you guys have any idea, what could I do to reach the crt quality of my fonts? Very much Thanks in advance! [opensuse] Kernel 2.6.32 from Kernel:/HEAD crash when toggle to console

Hi there, I use the current kernel ( 2.6.32-rc5-git3 ) from Kernel:/HEAD and when I try to jump to a virtual console with ctrl-alt-f2 the machine freezes, nothing in the syslog. No chance to return to X. I can only reboot with magic sysrequest. I wonder now, is this a known behaviour in this kernel release or is more likely my setup (nVidia, weird X settings etc.)? [opensuse] Evolution and sync of nokia e75 via bluetooth

I am trying to do what the subjects says (openSUSE 11.2 R2). As a start, I am following these instruction: http://www.linuxscrew.com/2007/09/12/nokia-e-series-sync-with-evolution-via… When I try to sync, I get a popup on the phone, telling me that my linux computer (it shows the computer name) wants a password. I use the password I set up in the instructions in the link, but I get the following: $ msynctool --sync nokia Synchronizing group "nokia" The previous synchronization was unclean. Slow-syncing Member 1 of type evo2-sync just connected Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client had an error while connecting: Bluetooth connect error Member 1 of type evo2-sync just disconnected All clients have disconnected The sync failed: Unable to connect one of the members Error while synchronizing: Unable to connect one of the members In /var/log/messages, I see: bluetoothd[6252]: pin_code_request (sba=00:16:41:1A:58:6C, dba=00:1E:3A:B5:E8:F1) bluetoothd[6252]: No agent available for 0 request I don't see how to get more information from msynctools.
