[opensuse] Dell Precision workstation + nVidia Quadro FX 4600 + 3007WFP == No Xgl?

I've searched the archives, and can't find any reference to this combination, so that probably explains why it doesn't work, but I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask. Anyway, I have a shiny new Precision 490 workstation with the nVidia Quadro FX 4600 video adapter, and the 3007WFP (30" wide format) panel here. OpenSuSE 10.2 installed and working fine. Installed nVidia drivers, no problem. Set resolution to 2560x1600x24-bit colour, no problem. But, I can't enable Xgl / Desktop effects. :-( When I try, I get: Video card: nVidia Corporation Unknown device 019e (rev ...) 3D Acceleration: Enabled Desktop Effects: Disabled Your graphics card is not supported. Furthermore, your colour depth and/or resolution is not within the allowed range (1024x768 - 1920x1200 resolution, 24-bit color). If you fix this, you may be able to run Xgl. So, two problems. First would be getting the Quadro FX 4600 to be a supported card. Who do I contact about getting it added to the list? I'd be happy to test or try whatever is needed, since I'm assuming the developpers can't own every possible video board out there. Second, is there a way to get Xgl to take higher resolutions? Hi everyone I have the latest compiz-git stuff up without xgl under nvidia. It really is getting stable. Stunning. Two small problems: logging out freezes to the point of having to reboot. Under xgl it logged out smoothly. I used to be able to have a choice of kde and then when kde was up replacing it with compiz. --replace kwin again locks solid. now I always get compiz/emerald. [opensuse] Samba trying(?) to connect CUPS server

Greetings, list. I am getting this lines repeatedly in /var/log/samba/log.smbd : printing/print_cups.c:cups_cache_reload(85) Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost - Address family not supported by protocol though I am not doing any printing with samba. There is no line in smb.conf related to printing. I wonder why I am getting these lines in the log file. [opensuse] Smart and traceback

Having already updated several times I get every time a window with traceback shows up. Have no idea what to with it and due to my desktop settings (1024x768) and the fact that this list does not seem scrollable, I have no idea how far down this traceback goes. Could somebody tell me what the for my readable part tells me and what to do next. My update went okay as far as I could tell but my /var/lib/smart/packages now holds some 274 packages many of which are of three to four different versions. Last update 54 packages. Something does not sound right. [opensuse] QT4 patch

Does anyone happen to know if SUSE has compiled QT4 with a fix titled 00_0186-fix-component-alpha-text.diff.dpatch. I would like to apply it to my system without having to compile it myself. Especially since I don't know how to get the source code and would prefer to just install an RPM. It resolves some graphics issues with Skype I hear. I have more information on that the patch does if anyone needs it. I currently have Qt Open Source Edition version 4.3.0. [opensuse] Video Card in 2nd PCIe Slot Problem

Hi, I have video card installed in 2nd PCIe slot (MSI nVidia 8600GT video card has very large fan-less radiator and cannot be installed on the first PCIe slot because of another large heatsink on Gigabyte P35 m/b). lspci lists this video card, but whenever I launch sax2, it do not recognizes nVidia (even with m 0=nvidia) and works in framebuffer mode only.
