[opensuse] Communicating with Vista

I just got a new laptop with Vista preinstalled (I'm sure I'm hardly the only one). Apparently Vista has trouble communicating with Windows XP, and the XP solution is to install a protocol called LLTP. A Google search revealed that there's been some effort to make LLTP Linux-compatible, but the only information I could find about that was intended for developers. Has anyone here succeeded in establishing network visibility with Vista, in either or both directions? [opensuse] Help Widescreen 1680x1050, Intel 915G can't get display configured

Mates. I have a new Acer AL2216W that runs native at 1680x1050. The install is Suse 10 with xorg-x11-6.8.2-100.2. The video card supports 1680x1050 natively and works well under M$. I cannot for the life of me get the display to work under suse 10 at anything other that 1280x1024. The Image fills the screen just fine, but it is obviously *not* right. Also, KDE control center -> display shows the resolution at 1280X1024 at 75Hz and I cannot select 1680x1050 in the control center. *Help*, what else can I try???? -- David C. [opensuse] Help Killling Process

I seem to have gotten myself into a situation where a Firefox process will not die nor will it display anything. (The problem seems to have something to do with You Tube.) When I try to start up another instance of Firefox, I get an error message that tells me to either close the current process or to reboot the system. Rebooting is not a good solution. I remember from the 'old days' that there is a cli command to identify a process id and another one to kill a process. I've searched my memory and the User Manual but cannot identify those two commands. Any assistance will be sincerely appreciated. -- Donald D. [opensuse] Beagle Configuration

I know many (most?) dislike beagle and turn it off, but I actually have a need to use it right now, and thought it would be a good solution to finding some information I have mis-placed. I have a bunch of tar'd gzip'd mail files (plain text nothing outlandish they were IMAP accessed) that are archives, from reading on the beagle-project.org site it looks like they should be indexed when beagle does its indexing, as "archive files" are supported out of the box (or at least thats the indication I am getting). Unfortunately it does not appear that those files are getting indexed, as they never show up when I do a beagle-query for a string I know is in them. Other items in that folder are getting indexed, permissions are the same. So I figured maybe its just something thats turned off, and so I did a beagle-info --list-filters and did not any mime types applicable for archives. So now I am left with the question, how do I turn this on, if its off, or do I need to create my own filter/backend for this? [opensuse] firefox works stable, finally

Hi, FYI, since Firefox 2.0 times, I was unlucky and unhappy. I never could use firefox stably on Linux. Any cure like disabling extensions and creating new profiles, and following the mozilla hints to stabilize firefox was done, to no avail. Instaed the "would you like to restore the previous session" box made my life more "colorful" Since the last suse build on my 32bit Box, ff could never survive 10 Minutes of surfing the web. I got so frustrated that I for one changed to opera and secondly deleted all the suse firefox stuff and installed the new 2.0.0.3 release directly from mozilla.com. What can I say, now after a full day of surfing the the web with mozillas firefox and another full night of downloading a few GB of downloads (the latter was just for testing, normally I do not use firefox for such things), I am still using the very same incarnation of firefox that I started yesterday! [opensuse] MDADM - can't force build with 4 disks

Hello, I'm trying to build a 4 disk ATA raid with OpenSuse 10.2. In both the Yast module and CLI using mdadm I get the same error: invalid raid level: =raid5 My command line looks like this: mdadm --create --force /dev/md0 --chunk=64 -l=raid5 -n=4 /dev/hde /dev/hdf /dev/hdg /dev/hdh Both Yast and the CLI will allow the build using 3 disks and a spare...but --force SHOULD tell mdadm to use all disks for the array....and it does not seem to work. Has anyone successfully set up a VPN connection from a mobile Linux system to a SonicWall firewall? Their Global VPN Client is Windows-only, as far as I can tell.
