[SLE] KVM Switch recommendation

Hi Everybody. I've got a SuSE system sitting next to a Debian system and I'd like to be able to switch between them with a KVM switch. I've been through two Belkin switches which have both failed. [SLE] Install of 10.1 - Not Happy!

Having followed this list for a couple of weeks, and successfully installed 10.0 in a test partition, I decided to install 10.1 from the Linux Magazine DVD in the same partition. The install was fairly intuitive, though I was concerned that the expected GRUB placement option did not appear, so I aborted and tried again, this time looking in "expert", where there seemed to be confirmation that GRUB would go in hda3, where I wanted it. Further down the track, in hardware configuration, the graphics card entry read "no proposal", and an error was flagged. But as the installer seemed to have no problems with my graphics card I went ahead. The update found only two very minor items, so I added Zen, rug, and the Audacity I needed to test as a priority. Problem 1: The installation finished, but instead of KDE I was presented with a command line login, presumably due to the graphics card error. Somewhat cheesed off, I rebooted. Problem 2: in spite of the appearance of having put GRUB in hda3, the install had evidently put it in the MBR of hda, wiping the previous GRUB that booted my everyday FC4 on hdc. Not Nice. Having rebuilt GRUB I am back in FC4. I had intended to move to SUSE 10.1 instead of FC5, but now I am considering Kubuntu Dapper, which successfully upgraded from Breezy online. I have yet to trawl the archives for a solution to these two problems, and it is far too late at night here in the antipodes to start now. The graphics card one sounds familiar, but the GRUB issue is new to me. Every other install I have done has been very clear as to where GRUB is to go, though FC4 consistently failed to put it anywhere, so fortunately I had kept notes on how to create it. I have been very impressed by the quality of the correspondence on this list, so I hope I can find solutions and continue to run SUSE into the future. GIMP will not start...

Greetings, SUSE Linux 10.0 on an old pentium 400Mhz After the initial setup dialogs on first run, nothing happens. Subsequent starting attempts simply does nothing at all. [SLE] OT - Groupware solution suggestions ?

I wonder If we a numerous enough do do so right now, but it could be an idea to go. I beleive that in the near future the Novell Programmers will be very busy working on the new distributions, as they do with 10.1 right now. one of the consequencies is that the debugging of the stable version is short. I know that security debugging is done (and I think well done), but, specially, Yats bugfixes are no more wellcome. However there are still many. many cosmetic (typos, translations), some of them worst (problems in adding inst-sources). In the same time, new SUSE Linux version are more and more hardware demanding. Using 10.0 on a 5 years computer is pretty straight forward, 10.1 is questionable, 10.2 or 3 probably not possible if all goes as it do now (5 years ago, 128Mb ram was current, 256Mb very high end). I understand why this is. But I try to keep all this nice hardware living and I'll hate to revert to debian :-((( I understand also that user using, say, SUSE 9.0 (or 10.0 two years in the future) can afford to update manually the problematics packages (kernel...) for security reason. I know some people use still 7.x versions. But nobody can fix yast alone :() why not us? Yast is a fine piece of code, but a big part is scripts, translations are texts files, openSUSE builder should ease the process. So could the community be more involved in this? SCPM profiles and network proxy settings

I'm primarily interested in changing the Firefox proxy settings with scpm. One way to do this is to have a script make the appropriate changes to the prefs.js. Hi List I get the following errors when I try and run yast. These used to work: ERROR(Media:file not found)[HTTP return code: 404 (URL: http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/…)] Is this repository no longer valid? If that's true is there a replacement to use for KDE updates? [SLE] 10.1 and kdes' konsole font?

Can anyone tell me how to get that perfect default 'Linux' font back that has been in konsoles' font selection menu for so long. I assume it is one of the fonts listed in what is now the selection menu but there isn't one called 'Linux'. Anyone know which one it might be??
