10.1 virgin /etc/ld.so.conf, please?

I upgraded my system from 10.0 to 10.1. I would like to see what the /etc/ld.so.conf file looks like on a freshly installed 10.1 system. If someone could please post theirs from an unmodified freshly installed 10.1 I would appreciate it. I would also like to see any files in the /etc/ld.so.conf.d/ directory. Thanks much! YaSt runlevel display is wrong

SUSE 10.1, KDE 3.5.2 updates. Looking for confirmation that I have found an issue with YaST's Runlevel display. Runlevel starts off in Simple Mode and appears to display the Enabled status correctly. When switching to Expert mode I notice that the Enable status does not _always_ match the Simple Mode status. I almost always select Expert mode ASAP when using YaST Runlevel and began to notice that services I knew to be running showed as "No" in Expert mode. Doing the Refresh on individual processes shows the correct Enabled status. Anyone know of any other command line options to start YaST runlevel in Expert Mode or how to cause a full refresh of all processes' status when in Expert Mode? Thanks, Stan

I have an IBM Thinkpad X30 with a SmartLink winmodem inside of it. This has always been supported by SuSE. The previous release I was running was 9.3. 10.1 has a lot of SmartLink stuff on the DVD (retail) but only for a USB SmartLink modem. I've just spent about 3 hours trying to figure out why there is no 'slamr' module provided but I can't find one. New releases are supposed to get easier to install. Not 10.1

Hello, I installed suse linux 10.1 by ftp, but 5minutes before the end of installation my dsl connection was broken... Why don't you have an option says " connection lost, do you want to retry?" See you Frédéric

Live Installer DVD

Seems like these days more distributions are adopting the Live Installer method as an option as a quick-and-easy install. Obviously there are many advantages to this, and some scenarios that it avoids. For example, never tried out Linux and want to try SUSE Linux? Sure, there's a completely painless way -- try out the Live DVD that installs absolutely nothing to your HD permanently. Play with it for hours, and then finally reach the conclusion that you want it on your computer permanently, installed to hard disk. Oops! You have to download another DVD or 5 CDs (or just three, arguably) and burn them, ouch. There are certainly other cases where it'd be damn useful, but that's the most clear one in my mind. It would be just the DVD I could happily always throw out to people for them to try. Problems? I really wouldn't have any idea how it would be implemented exactly, and as aka_druid notes on IRC -- talking about it is easy. Perhaps some more knowledgable with the idea could give some input. Thoughts? Ideas? Regards, apokryphos.

Alternate firewall (Guarddog) on SUSE 10.1

Hi I wondered if anyone here has any clue as to how I could install Guarddog as my firewall in SUSE 10.1. I read a review and it seems more in line with my own technical level than the yast firewall... But the rpm wont work. suspend to disk working nice now - replace boot process?

Dear list, with 10.1 the suspend to disk is working fine on my computer. This is a fast option but after long sessions there are a lot (dead) processes which are reloaded after suspend. Is it possible to define a state (e.g. the login prompt after init 5) as return point after suspend. Finally I want to do shutdown (not suspend to disk) but when restarting the computer the suspend-state defined before should be loaded. Is it possible? I hope I made my idea clear, if not ask me... Johannes
