How long did you let YAST sit before you killed it? It make take a long time to work after you rebuild the DB. Now, I start yast2, click on Add/Remove Software, and it starts: then a dialog starts that says "Checking Dependecies" ??? I haven't even selected anything to add or remove... The dialog box stays there... window is now frozen. It's process is now sucking up 95% of the CPU.... Any other ideas? I'll have to kill -9 it to get it to stop. But if it doesn't ,you should get the packman files referenced above. Also, it wouldn't hurt to go to whatever location (url) that is the home of k3b...email the creators, tell about your problems,things you'd like added,changed etc.

SuSE 9.1 and PDC20265 Raid controller

Hi all, I'm currently running SuSE 9.0 without any problems on my MSI K7T266 Pro 2 board with onboard PDC20265 Raid controller using two harddrives in a striped configuration. Now I would like to now if it's possible to upgrade to SuSE 9.1 still using the Raid controller (since as far as I know PDC20265 Raid support is still not ported to the 2.6.x kernel ). Does anybody know if the Promise PDC20265 Raid controller is supported by the new 2.6.x kernel which is shipped along with SuSE 9.1 Regards, Marc

I tried running sensors-detect. It tells me that I need to run the i2c-nforce2 module. But, it can't seem to find it. My understanding of ReiserFS is that by DEFAULT only the metadata is journaled. See http://www.namesys.com/v4/v4.html#crashes_handl. That is to say, when a file is written, the data that goes into the file is NOT journaled, but the data about the file IS journaled. Thus, when your power goes out, the file system should be OK (or easily fixed), but the files themselves may contain corrupt data. Seems counter intuitive, but the goal of Reiserfs is limit the time it takes to fsck after a crash. To protect data you need to protect the machine from adverse events. I believe if you want to journal data and metadata, then you'll have to modify the ReiserFS default behavior (I presume there is a man page on how to do it, but I haven't looked). Ext3 has similar configurations though I don't know the default behavior of ext3 (rtm). ReiserFS is ideal for something like an Oracle database. Where the files are fixed size and the application itself journals its own data. Or possibly a system with a HUGE number of files like a news server. Where the contents of the file aren't as important as the system not taking 4 days to come back up after a crash. In all honesty though, you need a UPS. No matter what file system you have power outages will inevitably cause some sort of data corruption. Strange bounces.

Hi, For some time now, I and some other people are receiving bounces like this whenever I (or others) send mails to SLS: |We have received the message sent to email address: | |32793(a)34.moosq.com | |however, this address is not a valid subscription or removal address on |this system. Please check the address and try sending your message again. or: |We have received the message sent to email address: | |97391(a)n0.tekmailer.com | |however, this address is not a valid subscription or removal address on |this system. Please check the address and try sending your message again. They usually start on Fridays, and stop on Mondays or Tuesdays, after several reports to SuSE Linux lists owners (and no comments from them, that's why I write here - I think I miss Chris; once I even had to write to "support" to get attention). What is happening? Somebody knows what those domains are, why they bounce, and why can they not be banned from ever resubscribing every week and bouncing back? YaST2 Sick

In the course of playing around with Evolution, adding and removing things, etc. yast2 has become partially broken. If I attempt to do anything related to adding or removing packages, it just freezes up. I can do anything with services, hardware, etc. with no problems. What could be wrong? I'm thinking something might be damaged with respect to the rpm database? If so, can it be repaired? Thanks - Dan

Squirrel and PHP - annoyances

Hi! SuSE 9.0 default install, all the updates, mod_php4 and apache default install, when I am trying to access my webmail, I got in 80% of the times a "nice" bulk php code instead of the nice interface of squirrelmail (sometimes, when hitting refresh for several times, I got the page I expected, sometimes not) The thing is that phpMyAdmin does this s*it too :( I was wondering if somebody on this list has the same problem, cause I was trying to find a newer version of mod_php4 or even mod_php4.src.rpm, but nobody seems to have it - I saw that in the sources of SuSE 9.1 there's no mod_php anymore (it's php4-4.3.4-26.src.rpm) - so I am clueless right now :( Any hints, please? This is on a production machine and I could not afford this to happen.
