[SuSE Linux] KPPP Configuration - What's wrong with this picture?

I configured Kppp (in the KDE wm) and initially I get a connection but then it dies (unexpectedly! - is this a joke? Was he shot? I imagine that if he'd died after long term illness he died 'expectedly'). Why is that? [SuSE Linux] Resend - Help: isapnp.conf setup with new "real" modem won't work

Hi there everyone, I apologise if you already got this, my yahoo account has been really acting up, and I have an new ISP email free anyways, so here I am. I'm not sure if this went through last time, but sorry if you are getting it twice. Well I got a shiny new internal us robotics 56k real honest guv hardware modem and just installed it. Works with windows, it is plug and play though. I decided since I have a PS2 mouse, to put it on com1, and in the bios of my machine I disabled the "auto" set feature for com1. So I used the isapnp.onf below to allot it to com1 ran the isapnp comand and I got the following error message: [error message begins] lspci not found, so PCI resource conflict not checked on or around line 13OM2. Just add the memory. The linux kernel will determine how much is there. And it will love you all the more for it. :) Some people think you should increase your swap size if you increase your memory. That is more or less up to you. I have 64M swap and 160M RAM because I've never increased my cache size. So far as I can tell, ever since I had 64M of RAM in the machine, the swap has never been used. Now that I have 160M, I am very sure it never gets used. [SuSE Linux] weird Netscape451_glibc problem

Hi, I went and got the unsupported glibc version of Netscape 451. I installed it yesterday, and it ran without error, started from an xterm. Today, I try to start it from an xterm, and it gives me an error message: "cannot load libm.so.5" and then it proceeds to run fine. An ldd of the executable shows no dependency at all for libm.so.5, and furthermore, I have libm.so.5.09 in my cache. Anyone knows what gives? Why did it run fine yesterday, and today give this message? Call me a dreamer, but I think that linux is what it is (free, and working, and stable) mainly because of this 'hacker' and 'whale saver' attitude of its supporters... And it wouldn't be a bad thing if all the PC world would stick to this attitudes, at least because they make us put the heart in what we do, programming, translating docs, or just using Linux and reporting the bugs for further improvements... Do you think a guy without a 'hacker' mind would program a FREE environment, without the perspective of gaining something from it? Or that a guy without a 'whale saving' tendence could bear all the disinformation campaigns that the major companies have lead in the past? [SuSE Linux] Another PPP Dial-up question

[SuSE Linux] Why modem initialization hangs on "Expecting OK"?

Hello SuSE folks! I got a strange problem with 2.2.4 and 2.2.5 kernels. When I use kppp with my old 2.0.36 kernel my USR modem is dialing up and establishing connection without any problem. When I'm rebooting with the 2.2.4 or 2.2.5 kernel my modem gets initialize and does it infinetely. In the terminal window I can only see ATZ and Expecting OK. That's it. I tried to test my modem with minicom. Modem dials connection without a problem, but after drops connection by itself. I compiled PPP PLIP and SLIP supports in the both new kernels. I did'n change setting or any parameter in /etc/rc.config, /etc/resolve.config, /etc/suseppp and so on. Could somebody please point me on what is a problem? I'm fighting with it almost a week.
