¿Has probado con otro driver (si usas el "radeon" probar con el propietario y viceversa) o con la opción de "nomodeset" (que te cargará automáticamente el "radeonhd")?
Segun el log carga el radeonhd y luego pasa al r128. /var/log/Xorg.0.log X.Org X Server 1.9.3 Release Date: 2010-12-13 [ 70.045] (==) AIGLX enabled [ 70.085] (==) Matched fglrx as autoconfigured driver 0 [ 70.085] (==) Matched radeonhd as autoconfigured driver 1 [ 70.085] (==) Matched ati as autoconfigured driver 2 [ 70.085] (==) Matched fbdev as autoconfigured driver 3 [ 70.085] (==) Matched vesa as autoconfigured driver 4 [ 70.085] (==) Assigned the driver to the xf86ConfigLayout [ 70.085] (II) LoadModule: "fglrx" [ 70.104] (WW) Warning, couldn't open module fglrx [ 70.104] (II) UnloadModule: "fglrx" [ 70.104] (EE) Failed to load module "fglrx" (module does not exist, 0) [ 70.104] (II) LoadModule: "radeonhd" [ 70.146] (II) FBDEV: driver for framebuffer: fbdev [ 70.146] (II) VESA: driver for VESA chipsets: vesa [ 70.146] (++) using VT number 7 [ 70.182] (WW) Falling back to old probe method for fbdev [ 70.182] (II) Loading sub module "fbdevhw" [ 70.182] (II) LoadModule: "fbdevhw" [ 70.183] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libfbdevhw.so [ 70.184] (II) Module fbdevhw: vendor="X.Org Foundation" [ 70.184] compiled for 1.9.3, module version = 0.0.2 [ 70.184] ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 8.0 [ 70.184] (WW) Falling back to old probe method for vesa [ 70.185] (II) R128(0): PCI bus 1 card 0 func 0 [ 70.185] (II) R128(0): Creating default Display subsection in Screen section "Default Screen" for depth/fbbpp 24/32 [ 70.185] (==) R128(0): Depth 24, (--) framebuffer bpp 32 [ 70.185] (II) R128(0): Pixel depth = 24 bits stored in 4 bytes (32 bpp pixmaps) [ 70.185] (==) R128(0): Default visual is TrueColor [ 70.185] (II) Loading sub module "vgahw" [ 70.185] (II) LoadModule: "vgahw" [ 70.186] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libvgahw.so [ 70.187] (II) Module vgahw: vendor="X.Org Foundation" [ 70.187] compiled for 1.9.3, module version = 0.1.0 [ 70.187] ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 8.0 [ 70.187] (II) R128(0): vgaHWGetIOBase: hwp->IOBase is 0x03d0, hwp-
