kernel stürzt beim Booten ab, Problem mit initrd?
habe auf Suse 8.1 Kernel 2.4.26 kompiliert mit: make menuconfig, make dep && make bzImage && make modules &6 make modules_install, den Kernel als vmlinuz nach /boot kopiert, System.map auch dorthin kopiert, beim Booten mit grub stürzt er ab, nachdem er ca. 4 Zeilen (da steht was von initrd) geschrieben hat, kanns nicht richtig lesen, weil so schnell. Jetzt ueberlege bitte einmal selbst: Du baust Dir einen neuen Kernel, aus neuen Kernel-Quellen, mit einer evtl. voellig neuen Konfiguration im Vergleich zu vorher. In der initrd sollten die Module stecken, die benoetigt werden, um Dein Linux ueberhaupt booten zu koennen - alter- nativ waere es sinnvoller, beim Compilieren eines eigenen Kernels alles, was zum Booten gebraucht wird, fest in den Kernel zu bauen, aber um das soll es hier nun gar nicht gehen. Logischerweise brauchst Du aber in der initrd die Module, die auch zu Deinem neuen Kernel passen, denn nur passende Module koennen (i.d.R.) auch geladen werden. Ich hoffe, dass Du Dir die Antwort auf Deine Frage nun selbst geben kannst. Alternativ koennte man z.B. fragen: ich wechsle mein Auto, habe statt Mercedes nun einen BMW - brauche ich einen neuen Zuend- schluessel, um das Auto zu starten oder nicht?! In dem Falle wird Dir die Antwort wahrscheinlich sehr leicht fallen. Mit dem Kernel ist es aber sehr aehnlich. Die Antwort ist also, "Ja, mit der initrd muss man auch etwas machen". Hallo Thomas! Danke für Deine Antweort und auch das schöne Kernel-Howto, Du hast eine Gabe das anschaulich zu erklären! Ich drucke es (2.4.) gerade aus, es kommt hoffentlich auch auf die neuen Suse-CDs!? Ich hab nun mehrmals Kernel neu kompiliert, auch die Unterstützung für initrd, reiserfs als module wie mein "shipped"-Kernel 2.4.19, der bisher da war, auch hat. mkinitrd lief ohne Fehler ab, und doch stürzt der Kernel in der 3. oder 4. Zeile ab, nachdem etwas von der initrd kurz erscheint. Was könnte ich noch falsch machen? Was muß noch einkompiliert sein damit es mit initrd läuft? Die Bootparameter fuer Deinen selbst compilierten Kernel und den Failsafe Kernel von SuSE sind ja doch recht unterschiedlich. Wenn Dein eigener Kernel nicht funktioniert, dann wuerde ich mal in diese Richtung weiter suchen und mit den Bootparametern experimentieren. Vergleiche auch mal die Konfigurationen. Wenn Dir schlicht die Unterstuetzung fuers Root-Filesystem fehlen wuerde, dann kaeme es zu einem Kernel-Panic, die Meldung wuerde aber auf dem Bildschirm stehen bleiben. Bei Dir scheint das ja nicht zu passieren. Deswegen wuerde ich mal schauen, was mit ACPI bzw. APIC ist undd er Unterstuetzung der Konsolen zu tun hat. Ob Deine Konfiguration richtig ist und Sinn macht, weiss ich nicht, das haengt eben von Deiner Hardware und den Features ab, die Du nutzen moechtest. Gruesse, Th.
