emailing logs (with encryption)
Does anyone have an easy/quick way to automatically mail the gzipped log files created by /etc/cron.daily/aaa_base_rotate_logs to an external email address? GPG encryption would be an optional added bonus. Sorry for asking such an easy question, but I pretty much suck at shell code... Networks are much more my thing :) TIA -Nix -- Microsoft is to operating systems & security .... .... what McDonalds is to gourmet cooking
Hi, The lowest common denominator for mailing is uuencode so if you set up a pipe Set up a script with usage "script filename" LOGFILE=$1 uuencode $LOGFILE < $LOGFILE | mailx -s "Log $LOGFILE" user@remote.domain or if pgp works in a pipe (never played with it at that level) pgp stuff | uuencode ${LOGFILE}.pgp | mailx -s "Log $LOGFILE" user@remote.domain Crude but even M$ MUAs will cope with it :-) John At 16:24 13/12/00 +1100, Nix wrote:
