I've a network printer declared as samba printer in my lnx machine. This server has 3 different ethx and a SuSefirewall2 running over. How can use from Lan 192.168.0.0/24 the samba printer with ip=172.168.0.200 ? Is it possible? Thanks
1st: Your Subject is wrong. You've to ask for samba and SuSefirewall2 2nd: So why not. Set up your firewall configuration: /etc/rc.config.d/firewall2.rc.config snip ---- # set to "yes" if this server is running a samba server. You still have to open # the tcp port 139 to allow remote access to SAMBA. FW_SERVICE_SAMBA="yes" ---- snap and put the ip of the samba server into the clients network configuration as wins server (assuming your clients are windows boxes). Set up samba to be wins server and restart if not always was wins'ing. smb.conf snip ---- [global] wins support = Yes ---- snap You may want to allow everybody to access the printer, so choose security=share swat help snip ---- You should also use security = share if you want to mainly setup shares without a password (guest shares). This is commonly used for a shared printer server. It is more difficult to setup guest shares with security = user, see the map to guest parameter for details. ---- snap the bob http://www.hs-pongratz.de
