A couple of days ago, someone said something like "why would you be using sendmail when postfix is much more secure and easier to set up." So, I decided last night, to remove sendmail and replace it with postfix. Now, as I'm sure the list admin is aware, I can't receive any mails.

I won't be your hero of the week :-) Postfix is intended as a "drop in" replacement for sendmail, however, the default Postfix install does not accept relay of mail except from localhost. This is to avoid becoming an open relay for spam. You need to edit the file /etc/postfix/main.cf. Note that SuSE has a habit of writing to just about very configuration file, including this one. Cheers, Sigfred. PS You might add following to your main.cf to block some spam : ############################################# # From http://basic.wirehub.nl/proxies.html, with some editing # due to changes in Postfix. ############################################# maps_rbl_reject_code = 571 smtpd_client_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, reject_rbl_client proxies.blackholes.easynet.nl, reject_rbl_client dynablock.easynet.nl, reject_rbl_client relays.ordb.org
