1-2-3 : Facts, ideas, actions ... Questions (simple & fast, not quick & dirty) :
1. did you go to OSC12-13-14 ? 2. When yes, where you volonteers, talkers ? did you ask for tsp ?
I am actually very new to OpenSUSE, and I had wanted to go to OSC14. I had actually prepared two talks, one being on how we are using opensuse for our tribal administration, but I am unemployed, and I did not hear back on funding in time, so I was unable to make any arrangements. I concede I was a very last minute pick after the original deadline was already extended, so it was simply a matter of unfortunate timing and limited resources, rather than any explicit action or issue in the process itself.
3. Will you go to osc15 ? => when no, why => when perhaps : what makes your decision ?
We are doing some interesting things with opensuse, and I would be happy to talk about them then. This time I would make sure to be well aware in advance of any deadline. But unless I do find some work by then, funding would be the primary issue effecting me.
4. Have you any ideas on how to increase ppl at OSC ? (hoe to be VISIBLE, how to be more attractive .. héhé)
One thing that made the first fedora (flock) stand out was 3d printing and the presentation from Lulzbot. Maybe finding someone using OpenSUSE in a similarly exciting area to present would help.
5. What kinda talks would interest you (did interest you), yes YOU ? (examples)
Secure VoIP services and protecting personal privacy, cryptography, and things in this area generally interest me. As I did a lot of arm work historically, a presentation on using/porting OpenSUSE to Raspberry PI, would interest me a lot too. If there isn't, I might choose to do such a presentation on opensuse rpi by osc15 :).
6. Have you any idea of WHO could be a great keynote speaker for next year (and it would be better for openSUSE TSP when living in Europe )
7. Would you have time to contribuate more ?
At the moment I am mostly interested in contributing packages that we are upstream for and use, and which are not in opensuse presently...
8. Last & option : for you, what is the best way to increase openSUSE contributors ?
I think the current opensuse wiki is laid out confusing and hard to search through. Often you end up finding pages that are about much older releases, although newer info is also there, just harder to find. I think making things more discoverable would help a lot, at least for me, though maybe there is a simple project roadmap page out there somewhere that I have missed.
9. free and open others ideas ?
Thanks tc Françoise
