Hello team,
After the mail that Bryen sent about Linux Audio Conference (http://lac.linuxaudio.org/2012/) and the passing of a musical university in Greece to open source, I thought to propose it.
Can we make a distro focus on music with such software and codecs? Some of them areMixxx,Audacity,Rosengarden,Alsa Mixer,Ardour, jack control, jack server,JAmin,Musescore
and many more. I'm not into music (only listen) and don't know what they need. I believe that it can be done easy to SUSE Studio (I didn't search if there's one). Personally I face some problems to setup my appliance with mysql and apache servers and a CMS like program.
Have a lot of fun! Stathis
Interesting idea, I was just surfing around a couple of weeks ago and came across AVLinux (which is Debian-based) and thought we ought to do a comparison of what exists there and what we could do as a Studio image. Of course, I haven't actually scanned around for whether we have something in Gallery for what you are proposing already. I think it is worth checking out, although a I think it should be broad to cover as much of media arts as possible, not just music. (Which is what AV Linux does.)
