Greetings,
I am a C++ programmer (formerly on Windows) and have started using Kdevelop/Qt. I did the simple "hello world" sample. All worked as expected until the install step when Kdevelop wanted to install files in several directories starting at /usr/local/kde... All are owned by root. The only way I was able to install was to run Build/Install as root. It is very inconvenient to supply a root password everytime you want to run your program. I looked in the Kdevelop config window but did not see a way to alter this, but there must be a way to use Kdevelop as a user without evoking root? You should install to something like $HOME/bin which is a directory that you own.
