I have a question too. How can I setup permissions to allow my regular users to write to the cd-rw?
Did you try to use the gid, uid and umask options for udf?
If not, try to mount the device using:
# mount -t udf -o rw,noatime,gid=cdrw,umask=002
That should (theorically) make the files be owned by the 'cdrw' group and allow them to write... Optionally you can use the uid to make the files owned by any user...
Check out the "user" option for mount. Unless I'm mistaken then anyone can mount it, they have ownership of it, and only the mounter can unmount it.
