Should we - A) use a kernel based on SLE12-SP3 (4.4.x), or - B) fork an own branch based on 4.9.x?
As a user, I would like to see a newer kernel used because of the poor support for current gen AMD cards in the older kernel. I'm on Tumbleweed and would prefer to be on Leap - I've seen others on the forum/reddit with similar issue. Thanks!
Well, the support for AMDGPU itself can be bumped for 42.3 even with 4.4.x kernel. We'll upgrade drm stack somehow up to 4.9 level for i915 Kabylake support in anyway, hence the rest are just (hundreds of) AMDGPU driver update patches :)
thanks,
Takashi Also Jason, with Leap it's still not too risky to use the kernel-stable repository, I know it is not a messy devel project ;-)
