Update to KDE 3.5 fron Suse 9.3 fails with kpdf package
I use apt with synaptic to update my system. When I select the package: kdegraphics3-pdf: (kpdf) I get the following error: kdegraphics3-pdf: Benötigt: xpdf-tools but it is not installable So it requires 'xpdf-tools' which is not available. what is going wrong ? Matthias

This is happening because the package xpdf-tools is missing from the KDE supplementary repositories. The best way (I found out from this mailing list) to get action from the KDE packager is to open up a bug report at opensuse.org. Search for open bugs first. Good luck. Harryc --

That should read "xpdf-config" and will in the next revision. Bye, Steve

Sure, go check. :-) Syncing is complete and python-qt dependency relaxed. Bye, Steve

There still seem to be some problems with the dependencies concerning python. When I try to upgrade I get the following conflicts: #### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2006-01-06 09:58:15 #### Konflikt mit kdebindings3-python 3.5.0-12 Konflikt mit: python-qt ersetzt PyQt Konfliktlung: ( ) kdebindings3-python nicht aktualisieren ( ) Alle 3 Pakete lchen, mit denen der Konflikt besteht hplip lchen kdebindings3-python lchen python-qt lchen #### YaST2 conflicts list END ### Sven

Sigh, fix submitted to build queue.
Now it is fixed, thanks! I noticed that with the latest packages KDE is a lot quicker, at least it seems to me that way. However I found some little bugs, that might be realted to recent patches added to the SuSE RPMs. The RSS logo, or any small icon (bug, java etc.) in konqueror's statusbar is displayed with a white line above and beneath it. Kopete always shows "0 other people in the chat" in its statusbar. If this is the price to pay for increased snappiness, so be it. ;) Sven

Dunno if we have patches in there which cause this, vanilla KDE build is fine?

Please report to http://bugs.kde.org or http://bugzilla.novell.com and attach a screenshot where applicable. Bye, Steve

I found one "fix" that caused this bug and was already reverted, so if kopete could be updated to 3_5_BRANCH and rebuild this would fix the issue. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109935

I'll do for the second bug. Sven
