[opensuse-kde] Sending faxs in KDE 4
Hi, Off course the question it's outdated, but in KDE 3.5 there was Kprinfax to send documents by fax and I would like to know if there is the same kind of tool in KDE 4. I tried to install http://vigna.dsi.unimi.it/fax4CUPS/, but I wasn't successful. I conclude that there is no such tool in KDE4. However, I feel that fax support has a better place as a printer driver, which is not a desktop thing. The circumstance that Linuxant does not keep up with the kernel does not make it any easier, but I digress :-( I have lost the ability to send fax with 11.3, which I deeply regret, living in a retarded country as mine is. However, not so deeply as to keep 11.3 alive. Chris -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

You do have some options and alternatives... First, there is a KDE bug open on this (but little interest in it unfortunately): https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=225479 A few people suggest this as a workaround: http://www.arneschmitt.de/archives/78 (requires caprifax and sendfax). And then there are the online options. A quick web search turns up a lot of online fax services. We use a HP OfficeJet and send faxes via HP's tools, i.e. you can print to the OfficeJet fax. Routers that can handle phones do also supply this functionality and needed software. Thanks for all your advises. Unfortunately the one who question forgets to mention all the details. I've a Hylafax server so I used KprintFax as a front-end. I discovered that this software is part of kdebase3 in OpenSuSE 11.4. I also found many alternatives in "http://www.hylafax.org/content/Desktop_Client_Software", where it's even listed a OpenSuSE software : Susefax, that must have bean discontinued. Another possibility that I consider was YajHF (Yet another Java HylaFAX client - http://www.yajhfc.de/). -- Regards, Lívio Cipriano -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
