If I'm overlooking the obvious, just slap me around... By preference, my outgoing messages are sent immediately, rather than held in the outbox for manual mass sending. Whenever I send a message (via SMTP server), I'm prompted for password. Is there a way to have my password remembered for the duration of the current session, only? I prefer to re-authenticate at the start of each session, but it's a bit much to re-enter the password for each sent message. . I didn't see anything in the Settings menu (I thought "Security" would be the place for stuff about passwords...), but I'm known for missing things that are right under my nose... it's a big nose... casts a deep shadow... :-) /kevin

Ken, that wasn't a request. That was an order. <gdrh> Anyway, guys, thanks for the suggestions, but what y'all were pointing to is a permanent saving of the password in a file. I intentionally avoided checking that box. As I said, I'm ok with authenticating once **per session**. I just don't want to have to do it with every sent message, when I'm writing many messages per setting. Some browsers and e-mail programs have provision for holding a password in temporary storage (RAM) and applying it whenever needed **for the current session**. Then it evaporates when you exit. That's what I was hoping for, rather than a permanent entry in a config file. Thanks for your efforts. I appreciate it. /kevin

I just reread your msg and -now- I see what you were asking. That option isn't in the latest version of kmail 1.4.1 and I haven't found anything stating that it's planned. That would be a nice option to have, though. Ken
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 . If you're talking about SMTP password, it's in Settings|ConfigureKmail|Network|Sending|{account}|Modify|General If you're talking about GPG password, every time, baby. On Friday 24 May 2002 10:16, Kevin McLauchlan wrote:
