Hi all, sorry for my bad english, but I don't know how to solve the problem myself. Since I have upgraded the samba utils in SuSE 8.1 (by RPM from the SuSE Mirror) I have trouble with the program kicker. Every time I start it a error accours ... it resoved a String an can't work with it ... and crash. Only as root the program still work ... Have anybody a idee??? Or already solved this Problem??? tia OLI

---------------------- Hi Oli, I can't say that I have seen this problem. Kicker seems to be working quite well here after doing the updates. Try removing your kicker config file in your home directory and restarting KDE to see if the problem still exists. I don't know what else to suggest without seeing more info on the error you are getting. It could be a permissions problem as well, if it is running ok as root. Check those too. Hi Patrick, I have already tried to remove the Directory .kde, but it still crash. If I start the kicker on commandline after crashing, it shows the following messages: tow@linux:~> kicker QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0) QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/DigitalClock) Negative sizes (2,-4) are not possible QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0) QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/QLabel) Negative sizes (63,-4) are not possible QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0) QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/DigitalClock) Negative sizes (2,-4) are not possible QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0) QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/QLabel) Negative sizes (63,-4) are not possible tow@linux:~> getTypeString::Unknown type 35 kicker: crashHandler called tow@linux:~> KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2 KCrash: Application Name = kicker path = <unknown> pid = 3160 QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0) QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/DigitalClock) Negative sizes (2,-4) are not possible QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0) QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/QLabel) Negative sizes (63,-4) are not possible QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0) QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/DigitalClock) Negative sizes (2,-4) are not possible QWidget::setMinimumSize: The smallest allowed size is (0,0) QWidget::setMaximumSize: (unnamed/QLabel) Negative sizes (63,-4) are not possible tow@linux:~> getTypeString::Unknown type 35 tow@linux:~> I don't know which type of String it expacted ... but is always the same message ... tia OLI Am Die, 2002-11-19 um 02.34 schrieb Patrick:

Hi Tim, Hmmm, this sounds like a QT problem and one I had when I did the online update to the last kdelibs3 files, using SuSE 8.0. Try this, create a new user and see if the same thing happens with that user. If it does, of course, then you have a system wide problem and if not then only you, as a user have the bug. I see you are using Evolution as your mailer, so it won't be affected by the kdelibs3 bug. If you use KMail or KDevelop or Kedit, those are the biggest things that showed it up. KMail would crash when trying to send a mail, KDevelop would crash if trying to start a new project and Kedit just wouldn't open up! The solution was to compile kdelibs3 from the source rpm yourself. I have the new compile for 8.0 if you should not want to do that, but the file is a few megs large. Hopefully I haven't told you wrong what to try and I will depend on the more skillful Linux users that hangout here to correct or offer other alternatives. It's a starting point though, good luck Patrick --- KMail v1.4.3 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206
