Hi there
Having similar problems in my opinion the multimedia
system of linux needs some major corrections. It's not
only xmms. It's also realplay etc. That means for me:
Listening music on noatun or juk (arts). opening the
taskmanager, kill arts, open realplay and listen to a
livestream. more than only a question for usuability
as I think. Stopping realplay, starting noatun (or
arts in kcontrol) and be able to listen to juk again
(because juk doesn't start arts itself). hrmpf. Well -
my only hope is that I miss something, but it's not
the kcontrol option whether to start arts by kdeinit
or not.

Sebastian
Maybe I haven't seen something.

problem using XMMS.
In practice the artsd sound server locks the access to the sound card so that XMMS finds the device busy.
The obvious quick remedy would be not to run artsd at startup, but I would rather try to make XMMS pass through it, if possible.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance,
Alberto
