Hello Alvin, PC's using Windows use a terminal connection programme called EXCEED, that uses "XDMCP Query" to connect to the SUSE box. This brings up the SUSE KDE standard login interface screen to login. The useradd command does it all for ssh and rlogin users: directory generation together with startup files and /etc/passwd entry - no problem. But it does not provide for users to login by the KDE Yast interface ??!? Yes, the user sees ok the login screen. Yes they are able to type in their username and password - but get error then. "User account has been disabled". Installing users manually as administrator using Yast administration tool makes all connection types to work ok. I am however looking for a command(or script method) to do this, RSVP, Regards, David A.-
Sorry about my earlier 'too early in the morning' reply. By default, useradd disables the new user's login. man useradd suggests that using -p or --password and setting the password will cause the account to be active right away. My experiments verified this behavior. Stan
