Dear Listmates,
One of the oldest openSUSE bugs for KDE4, might be the issue that the setup of KDM is happening through YaST or manual edit of /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager. Settings done through the systemsettings (Personal Settings) of KDE, do not have any or little effect on how KDM works.
I know that it is late, but the openSUSE KDE community packagers have been working on solving this issue and to make sure that we improving the situation.
In the next few days we will push an update that enables the user to maintain most of the KDM settings through it's own module within systemsettings. To maintain compatibility with the other displaymanagers and also with the installation process of openSUSE, we decided to keep the autologin settings part of the sysconfig settings.
We hope that we have solved another usability issue.
Your openSUSE KDE Community team
