Hello list,
I tried to add a person to my KMail 1.4 Address Book, but when closing the window, I experience the error "Couldn't save Address Book" (Konnte Adreßbuch nicht speichern). The new entry was not saved.
I'm just helpless with that! I deinstalled kdenetwork3 and reinstalled it after that, but to, surprise, no effect.
This is on my SuSE 8 machine with KDE 3.0 installed. I still haven't managed to update to KDE 3.0.3 (or 3.1? Is it usable?). Could this help? Updating?
Any -- any! -- help is appreciated.

Sven, Check the permissions on your config file for your user. Usually this is the biggest reason it won't save your changes as you don't have permission to write to the file.
3.0.3 is a very good update. I am stable here so far, except for a few Konqueror crashes, all seems to be working nicely.

Also check permissions of the addressbook itself. I still have K2.2.2, but mine's in /home/{user}/.kde/share/apps/kab . If that permission is wrong, fix it and look for other non-user permissions in your /home/{user} directories. This is an old problem, and little recognised. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAj1+Z4MACgkQnQ18+PFcZJucsACfZ8D076t9kcSJV3fbBM3cZlxm TisAn0LU+JPhPBP98GUN3+QWOcdAUR6w =uU6X -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
