Maybe don't know a important thing. Can anybody explain, why all of you are using xmms through artsd? I tried this and it was horrible.
I only say that it is posible, not that it sound good. However, I do find that aRtd have superior sound quality to xmms when using a native KDE player. I personally use Noatun with the Hayes playlist: http://www.freekde.org/neil/hayes/
You have delay with this, you have skips if system is on high usage and the sound quality ist poor in my eyes.
That is why you have to turn on realtime priority.
Okay. If I missed something, I would really aprecciate any input about why it's better to use all apps through arts.
I only use aRtd with KDE apps which I find have superior sound quality. I also use aRtd to resample to 48KHz for output because of the subpar implementation on my card- the SBLive!. This card actually converts everything to 48KHz internally for output. Charles -- "sic transit discus mundi" (From the System Administrator's Guide, by Lars Wirzenius)
