Running SuSE 8.1, xfree86 4.2.0, kde 3.1.4 Tried updating to kde 3.1.5 using apt (synaptic), no luck. Downloaded all the files (for suse 8.1) in the 3.1.5 mirrir from kde.org. Tried #rpm *586.rpm -Uvh in the directory. Eventually an error was reported

checked for libstdc with locate and found libstdc++.so.5 in /usr/lib and other locations as well. Went to ftp:suse... and re-installed the libstdc++.rpm using yast. Then removed kdegraphics3-kamera-3.1.5-0 from the directory and tried #rpm *586.rpm -Uvh again. I still get the same error (minus the kdegraphics3-kamera parts) .
Anyone have any pointers for me?
It looks like a packaging bug to me: The only available version of libstdc++ is libstdc++;3.2-44;i586;base which provides: 8.1-i386/RPMS.base $ rpm -qp --provides libstdc++-3.2-44.i586.rpm gppshare libstdc++.so.5 libstdc++.so.5(CXXABI_1.2) libstdc++.so.5(GLIBCPP_3.2) libstdc++.so.5(libstdc++.so.5) libstdc++.so.5(GLIBCPP_3.2.2) is not provided. You better report this to suse. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
