[opensuse-kde] Akonadi Google connector - please, package new RPM

Hello, please, who packaged Akonadi Google connector? There were actually some changes and important bug fixes. Package was also renamed. See http://www.progdan.cz/category/akonadi-google/ and also my packaging wish https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302183 (sorry, I'm not developer). Author of that software packaged some newer versions in OBS https://build.opensuse.org/project/packages?project=home%3Aprogdan but there are problems with building and he does not wish to spend a lot of time fixing it (he uses Fedora). Package akonadi-google available in repositories is not actual version, actually, it does not work at all... http://software.opensuse.org/package/akonadi-google It's necessary to package new version. There is also something, what looks like the new version http://software.opensuse.org/package/libkgoogle0 but it isn't actual. It will be native part of KDE PIM, KDE 4.9, but openSUSE 12.2 will be shipped with KDE 4.8. We need the package for openSUSE 11.4-12.2 and KDE 4.7-4.8. Please, could anyone take care about that? AFAIR, going back several releases of KDE at least, how is it that I can do a minimal install, set solver.onlyRequires=true, then zypper in: kcalc kcm_gtk kdebase4-runtime kdebase4-session kdebase4-workspace kdelibs4-core kdm konsole konqueror ksnapshot then startx only to find no window decorations in an otherwise usable KDE? Shouldn't kwin be required by at least one of the *base* kde4 packages? Maybe if kwin was instead named kdebase4-kwin its absence might be noticed prior to starting X (instead of a dep?)? Shouldn't whatever is in kwin be a part of kdebase4-workspace? -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Just a small warning that you might want to wait a few days before updating to KDE SC 4.8.4, since there seem to be some genuine issues with the version – apart from the half broken but published anyway KR48 11.4 repo. http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-core-devel&m=133932214908691&w=2 I did not want to blog this since it would appear on planetkde.org, but you might want to spread the warning in order to avoid frustrated users. I was reading with interest the thread on the KDE 4.8.4 repo, and one of the things that stuck to me most was that I don't fully understand how the repository system works. So please, begging your pardons, can someone point me in the right direction on where to read about the repository system, so that I can follow this more intelligently? Here is what I think I understand, and please correct me if I am wrong. There are 2 upstream KDE repos - KDE Factory (KDF) and KDE Release (KDR). There was an update put on both KDR and KDF so that we could upgrade to KDE 4.8.4. However, there was something wrong, which caused a lot of crashes, mostly with kmail, akonadi, and nepomuk. As to understanding what exactly went wrong, here is where it gets fuzzy. I read people writing things like: "Someone needs to update kdelibs4 in KDE:Release:48. The fix is already in KDE:Distro:Factory, but not pushed to KR48. And then we have to wait." - so my question is, when a statement like this is posted, who actually updates kdelibs4? Is it only people on the KDE development team, or are there people out here in the community that contribute to that and put it together and then rebuild it? Here is another quote: "Still the question remains why somebody would set the repo to publish but not check whether it actually builds for four days and counting." - My question on this is, who sets up the repo? I do not mean this to point fingers, but rather just so that I understand who in general sets up the repositories. Can anyone do it? Or do only KDE development people do it? - And then also, about building (which I assume mean all the packages and libraries compile and function together), how is a repository checked to see whether it builds? Again, is this something that we as a community are supposed to do? or are there development people that take it upon themselves to do it? -- G.O. [opensuse-kde] Special Window/Application Settings

Hello all, Awhile back (around 11.3 I think) I made the switch from Virtual Desktops to Activities. So far, I am very pleased with activities, thank you! The only thing I miss is a way to configure an application or window to automagically appear on all activities. For example, with virtual desktops, there is a setting (Window Menu->Advanced->Special Application Settings) to configure an application to appear on all desktops. Does anyone know of a way to do the same, but have the application appear on all activities? Currently, I am selected Menu->Activities->All Activities. Just curious if Activities will be integrated into the Application/Windows settings or if there is a workaround I could follow? You might have noticed that openSUSE 12.2 has been delayed to mid-September: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2012-06/msg00141.html That should be right in time for KR 4.9.1 if I'm not mistaken. 12.2 KDE Live CD (Build0398 - not installed). Use "Online Help" in a FolderView of your desktop. It opens browser with http://help.opensuse.org . Choose Chat & Help then link "Connect me to #opensuse" . It gives popup to choose application. I choose Mibbit to avoid configuration of Konversation. Result: It failed and the reason is that Freenode.net does not allow Mibbit, and recommends http://webchat.freenode.net . This is just information that openSUSE KDE users that try above path will fail. Also, I'm not sure why http://help.opensuse.org is used as it is now.
