I installed the 'Trinity' KDE3 3.5.10 on openSUSE 12.1, using the 1-click option at:
It's great to have a non-Aconadicised KDE again (though I'm missing the 'dvdnav' function for VLC, and the Nautilus add-on for Dropbox's 'Public' directory (so one can get the URL of a file in there)).
Just one question: As a new user of openSUSE (though my first Linux distro was SuSE 9.0), I don't know how to set YaST2 'Software Update' up to include updates from the KDE3 site. How does one do that?
I don't think it's possible for it not to have been done automatically already. AFAIK, a repo is a repo, with no way to distinguish those included only for updating from those for some other reason. To be sure, go into YaST2 "software repositories" and compare characteristics of the entries it contains. Note that updated KDE3 apps show up in the KDE3 repo virtually every day. You might not even want them updated automatically. I don't. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
