@Ilya: Back in early 2012 (I believe) we had a problem
with /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc with a default in the [Shutdown]
Section reading "HaltCmd=/sbin/halt" instead of "HaltCmd=/sbin/halt -p", by
default. That was fixed, I believe.
I did an install/test from the 12.3M1 x86 DVD the other night, and the problem
is back again ... regression? IIW, it is back to "HaltCmd=/sbin/halt" again.
I originally used the 12.2 KDE3 repo offered by by the Community repos in
Yast, but udpated later to Factory, so I can not say for sure where this
Shutdown command came from.
I also created a backup 12.2 install of KDE3 a few weeks ago, and defintely
used the 12.2 KDE3 repo, and it too does not shutdown properly. I had
forgotten at that time about the early 2012 problem with the shutdown
parameter, and elected instead to switch to sysvinit, which solved it.
Checking kdmrc it too has "HaltCmd=/sbin/halt" rather
than "HaltCmd=/sbin/halt -p".
No big deal, but could you find time in your maintenance chores to reset this
default back to working condition?
