[opensuse-gnome] Trouble with GS 3.6 installation

I know our beloved Dominique is partying it up in Prague this weekend, but hoping an answer can come about anyway. :-) I finally got around last night to installing 12.2 + GNOME 3.6 on a physical machine instead of in VM and I encountered problems once 3.6 was installed. After installing 12.2 (with GNOME only) and zypping it up to be fully updated, I added the G:S 3.6 repo and installed all bits to be updated from that repo. Upon restart, the GDM would hang with nothing but a spinning mouse cursor. As an experiment, I did another fresh install only this time setting my user account to automatically log in. This time when getting to 3.6, I would get the "Oops, something is wrong" screen when starting up in GDM. So, I finally did yet another clean install and just stayed with original 12.2 with full dupping. I'm not sure what I can do as I wanted to fully immserse myself in 3.6 this week while I'm on the road and relying on my laptop. Thoughts? Suggestions? Magical dance spells to cast? Hi list, I installed Gnome 3.6 on my openSUSE 12.2 x86_64 system according to http://dominique.leuenberger.net/blog/2012/09/gnome-3-6-for-opensuse-12-2/ Afterwards it is possible to open System Settings, but no tool inside this control center window is activated or possible to start. At the same time, is it correct that the previous Gnome 3.x Windows and Application tabs are removed in 3.6? Rgds, Terje J. Hi list, Recent update almost broke my Gnome 3.6 environment. Not able to open most of the Gnome apps, GTK theme is broken too. [opensuse-gnome] gnome-shell 3.6 likely memory leak

Hi, In my machine which is up for about 3 hours, the gnome-shell memory has grown to 3000m in Virtual and about 200m in resident. Should I file a bug or is it normal ? [opensuse-gnome] Gnome Terminal - Reset & Clear - Retain Prompt after clearing

Hi, In gnome-terminal, if set a shortcut key for "Reset and Clear" and use that (instead of ^L), the good thing is that the screen history is also cleared. But the PS1 prompt is not retained. I need to press an extra "Enter". Does it not make more sense to get the prompt retained, after clearing the scrollback ? Is there a trick to achieve this ? [opensuse-gnome] Evolution 3.6 Account Name Issue

Evolution 3.6 feels significantly more stable than Evolution 3.4! Specifically, Evolution 3.4 would often lose all of my mail preferences... it hasn't happened yet with Evolution 3.6, so maybe that bug is fixed with the move to dconf. But I have found one regression. In Evolution I rename my email accounts using Account Preferences. E.g. I change "address(a)gmail.com" to "Personal", "address(a)school.com" to "School", etc. Since upgrading to Evolution 3.6, I this field resets each time I open Evolution. That is, if I rename an account to "Personal", it will stay that way until I close Evolution, but will be back to "address(a)gmail.com" the next time I open it. It's not a big deal to me, but still a problem to have a nonfunctional setting. Thanks, Michael

[opensuse-gnome] Gnome 3.6 Contacts App

Since switching to GNOME 3.6 using the STABLE repo, I've noticed some issues that haven't been reported here yet. Particularly annoying is a bug with the Contacts app's Gnome Online Accounts integration. I link three Google accounts to GOA, but since upgrading to 3.6, none of my remote contacts show up in the Contacts app. I know they're still there, though, because Evolution is able to see them without issue. According to the Contacts documentation, GOA contacts are supposed to show up in "Local Address Book". But in Contacts 3.4, I was always able to find them in an address book simply named "Contacts". This address book no longer exists on Contacts 3.6... and switching between address books doesn't seem to work anyway. Any ideas what might be wrong? Michael P.S. I really appreciate the work of the openSUSE Gnome team! I have serious hardware compatibility issues with other distros, and wouldn't be able to use Gnome at all if not for you guys. =)

GNOME 3.6 moved the application global menu into the status bar [top bar]. This works well for maximized applications ... but how are you supposed to get to this menu for an application that is not maximized? Emphathy in particular, this switches to be the menu for another application if I mouse over another application on the way to the menu. Dear All, since I switched to GNOME 3.6 from the STABLE repos, I cannot play anything with Banshee if I turn on the lyrics plugin. As soon as I try to play something, the program just does not play anything, even if the interface keeps working correctly. [opensuse-gnome] GNOME 3.6 User Switching

Dear All, in GNOME 3.6, I cannot switch users. If I select 'Switch user' from the user menu, I get sent back to my user's login screen. If I then click on 'Log in as different user', absolutely nothing happens. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
