[opensuse-factory] factory upgrade: zypper dup timeout aborting.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Another problem I have with "zypper dup" is that, not only my adsl is not fast enough, but that it has "coughs": ... Retrieving: efont-unicode-0.4.2-215.9.noarch.rpm [error (1.1 K/s)] Timeout exceed Abort, retry, ignore? [A/r/i]: A Retrieving: content [done] Problem retrieving the package file from the repository: Can't provide ./suse/noarch/efont-unicode-0.4.2-215.9.noarch.rpm : Timeout exceed I had left it overnight, and in the morning I found that (for that worried about energy star compliance, I also had set it to hibernate via "at" command ;-) ). Some months ago we talked about this. The recommendation was to do "zypper - -n dup -l", which doesn't handle timeouts, AFAIK. Has this situation improved, do we have some new switch to handle this? Other recommendations were of the type: while true; do echo y; echo i; echo 1; done | sudo zypper dup but I don't quite like it. I have also tried "autoexpect", but it fails miserably: autoexpect started, file is script.exp The system has no more ptys. Ask your system administrator to create more. while executing "spawn -noecho zypper -n dup -l" ("eval" body line 1) invoked from within "eval spawn -noecho $argv" invoked from within "if {[llength $argv]>0} { eval spawn -noecho $argv cmd "spawn $argv" } else { spawn -noecho $env(SHELL) cmd "spawn \$env(SHELL)" }" (file "/usr/bin/autoexpect" line 315) - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAkkIPk4ACgkQtTMYHG2NR9UpjwCggdzOZnZ8dS9tnKo2zICY4Yjv H0EAn2ptnsHnacA2LQwUdMN7NymqYeLm =c4PN -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Zypper should wait a few seconds (you get a prompt with countdown) and retry a few (three) times. I'm not sure why it does not work for you, please open a bug report and attach zypper.log from that run (or try to reproduce). - -- cheers, jano Ján Kupec YaST team - ---------------------------------------------------------(PGP)--- Key ID: 637EE901 Fingerprint: 93B9 C79B 2D20 51C3 800B E09B 8048 46A6 637E E901 - ----------------------------------------------------------------- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkkIaesACgkQgEhGpmN+6QF5JACfZ1xmffrNx3xn7mkke7rWDkXA HfYAoIMVi13QWqgB5r6h//TgaIshYA+q =AUtV -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Thanks. It is an unattended "zypper dup" run. A few seconds is not enough if it is and adsl restart/retrain event. I need a minute or more. It is reproducible, but not now (zypper aborts for another reason). I already attached yast2logs to "Bug 425035", but that does not contains zypper.log. Do I attach it there, ro do I open a new bug? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. I created Bug 439983. Tried to put you in CC, but Bugzilla did not allow it, you do not exist. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
