[opensuse-factory] text select in KDE4 - often omits the first or last character - can this be adjusted?
Listmates, One strange annoyance with KDE4 is text selection. For the myriads of select the middle-mouse pastes that are done routinely, many times KDE4 text select misses/omits the first or last character of the text block that was copied. This occurs even when the first/last character is within the highlighted text block for copying. Has something changed in the text selection code/highlighting that could account for this? If so, what to check or set to have this behave like it did in kde3. This behavior occurs not only in kapp (kmail, etc.) but also when copying from Firefox, etc. Has anyone else noticed this in kde4? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Yes, now, when you say it. I have ever thought that it was my fault... ;-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- openSUSE Member - de.opensuse.org Sys-Op http://en.opensuse.org/User:Buschmann23 http://en.opensuse.org/How_to_Participate http://en.opensuse.org/Geeko_wants_you!

I'm getting old, but not that old ;-) Something has changed with the "smart" text selection used in KDE, the difficulty will be determining what? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. I'm getting old, but not that old ;-) Something has changed with the "smart" text selection used in KDE, the difficulty will be determining what?
From some struggling and hunting I find that *most* of the time selecting alone with the left mouse-button does not enter the selection to the clipboard, right mouse-button action is required. But this is not *consistent* and quite disconcerting.
Another is the failure to lock the second item in zypper. It merely repeats the first lock, and again, and .... Considering bug reports against both. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Patrick, Let's split the difference. You file the failure to lock the second item in zypper, I'll file the smart text selection bugs. I'll post the bug number after it's done for additional comments. Ok, the failure to paste first or last character of selection bug is filed. Please add any additional comments you have to help describe the situation to: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=519918 I have tried to describe it the best I can, but more input is always helpful. Especially on a "happens sometimes" bug. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
