[opensuse-factory] reporting kde crashes
All, I just had dolphin segfault. Realized I was not running the latest KDE 4.3 beta, so I'm installing that now before I report anything. But it left me wondering how to report it now anyway. I believe the kde4 crash reporter is now working. Is doing that good enough? Or do we still need to file a opensuse bugzilla? The kde crash reporter "drkonqi" has worked very well for me on 20 or so occasions. The "search for duplicates" feature in the crash reporter isn't bulletproof, but so far I have been surprised that 90% or so of the bugs I file with bugs.kde.org through crash reporter actually end up in my bug list :p You can file with crash reporter and then log into bugs.kde.org and choose "My Bugs" from the left menu to confirm the report made it. (I usually try to write down the bug number reported at the end of crash reporter to check at bugs.kde.org) [yes, you have to write it down, you can't copy anything from the freaking dialogs anymore] -- David C. David (and all), My question was more, in addition to filing kde bugs upstream, should they also be filed in novell's bugzilla. My bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197851 seems pretty severe to me and it seems logical that the opensuse team would want to track it separately from kde. Or maybe they already follow all of the kde bugs? Regardless, my issue is hit by putting "smb://server" in dolphin. After entering the login / password I get a segfault. I'd appreciate this bug getting some votes at least. Yes, I figured your question out a little more after I sent my reply. My experience has been the devs telling me to go file KDE bugs with bugs.kde.org. I would have thought that all kde4 bugs would be of interest to the devs here, but apparently not. The consensus was to file with kde and not duplicate the bugs with novell. If that has changed, please let us know. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
